Just got a screenshot off the DVLA site showing the SORN declaration. Presumably that means that someone somewhere is keeping UEY 245L off road.

Any way you can add UEY 245L after the JWO 32L of this thread just in case it helps someone to spot it?

Many thanks again.

Jon
It might be worth writing to Practical Classics magazine - they quite often publish short letters from people searching for their old cars.
You might just get a result of some sort, particularly knowing that the editor, Danny Hopkins has an Interceptor himself :D
PistonHeads website also has a topic of finding cars, probably worth writing a post.

Also could the JOC club Facebook write a piece, asking people to share??

Martin - Many thanks for the idea. I will give it a go.

Eddie - Ditto.

Another nugget of info came about via Twitter over the weekend that the MOT last expired 17 Sept 2011 which would be logical with car (now registered UEY 245L) having been registered SORN in 2012.

Thanks all

An update:

I have got an AA vehicle check report and it shows the current owner (whoever that might be) became owner number 11 on 19 October 2003 and at the last MOT she had 48k miles on the clock.

Also, have heard back from Gavin Barnett who contacted Richard Calver for advice about buying her, back in 2003.

Sadly but totally understandably, Gavin cannot remember much about the seller’s details other than he was a barbour and he spoke to him on the phone between his hair cuts and his wife showed him the car. He took the UEY 245 photo above which is a great piece in the jigsaw for me. A huge thanks to Gavin. He ended up buying an E-Type.

I have also been on Robey’s web site and ordered a copy of original purchase docs that hopefully will confirm my dad’s details and 138/8451 being bought from ADR Garages, Cwmbran.

The search continues.

JonE wrote: Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:46 pm Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for your help. I am now on the forum.

The photo was probably taken in 1974. The car left the factory in April 73 and my dad had it from new, bought from ADR Garage in Cwmbran, Wales. It is a pipe in his mouth (he burnt holes in the driver seat of many of our cars) and most likely deck shoes on his feet as he also had a yacht at the time. As for the hair cut, well...

I have found out today via Richard Calver that she was re-registered at some point as he was contacted in 2003 by a chap considering buying SP 138/8451 (with engine number 3C10895) and at the time it looked like she had been given a re-spray (still silver grey), the black vinyl roof was gone and the plate was UEY 245L. Picture attached.

If anyone recognises the other plate or any of this rings any other bells, I would love to hear from you.

Many thanks again,

Jon
Hi Jon,

My name is Dominic Razouk, I have you father's car at my house in Ross on Wye but I am currently residing in the United Arab Emirates.

I purchased the car in early 2000 and later moved to the Gulf.

UEY254L is currently in red without a vinyl roof and still has the engine number you mentioned.

I used to live in Newport and find it amazing that the car has returned close to home.

I hope this helps.

Kindest regards

Dominic

John,
The reason the rear door shut looks so good is that the door is slightly open, look at the top of the stainless sill and you can see the offset.

Hi Jim,

I've been a Jensen fan since my university engineering days back in the early1980s,
My first interceptor in my early twenties was AJW70H a MK2 and at least four after the MK2, I currently own

SSS890K a black SP for restoration
UEY254L a red SP
LYY290K a Yellow SP for restoration
LGH391N a blue MK3 for restoration
SBF28L a Light metallic blue currently in the Gulf
FFL495L a yellow MK1 currently in the Gulf

As you can see, I've got the bug and plan on restoring all the cars as a retirement project.

I hope this updates any data needed.

Kind regards

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

Thank you so much for posting and for getting in touch. Wow! You have quite a collection by the sounds of it.

"Over the moon" does get close to how it feels to find out that the car is still out there being looked after homed not a million miles away from where my dad bought her. Ross is not far either from where I live in Worcester. All these years I have travelling down the M50 to visit my brother in St Mellons just outside Newport and my dad, near Brecon, and gone practically passed her. Would love to see any other photos you have.

I purchased the factory documents from Martin Robey last year and they include the Manufacture Record, a warranty claim for the bank breaking sum of £5.80(!) for the repair of the off-side electric window and some other bits and pieces including my dad's signature on the warranty card. I would be happy to email you copies if you would like them for the history file.

Here is the only other photo of my dad with JWO 32L that the family has taken in 1973. This was unearthed when we put together a family photo album for his 90th birthday last October. For such a car in those days, he was definitely more the Bob Geldolf look than the Henry Cooper suit and tie!!

He is 91 next weekend and to be able to let him know about the car and show him your photos is simply wonderful.

Thank you again.
