Jobs while we are off

Post by Steve Payne »

After Eddies post last night I thought I would show what I have been doing this week to my car.
My wheels have been looking not there best for a while so it seemed a good idea to strip them and give them a refurb
This is after I used paint stripper and my hand held sand blaster.

I have also stripped the headlight shrouds and painted them
And the headlight shrouds after stripping them and then two coats of Etch and 2 coats of satin. I will polish the rims once the paint has dried.

I ordered some special wheel paint over a week ago but with the carriers being so busy it looks like the primer will have plenty of time to go off.
I have plenty of jobs I can get on with.

Nice one Steve. I'll drop mine off later - I'll leave them in the porch if that's OK :?:

I repainted and lacquered the alloy wheels to my Mitsubishi GTO in the back garden a few years ago.....They baked in the sun really well....My wife wouldn't let me use the oven!

Did you kill the grass. There’s four brown circles that suspiciously seem to match the wheel diameter......

OK there’s no before photo just the one,, but this morning I decided to clean the car,, underneath.. what a job, back wheels off warm water and a cloth. Clean brake pipes, axle and handbrake rods. After a polish ( got some showroom polish free) near ever done that before.. then a good clean for the wheels,, well they’re off the car. Even polished the inside of the wheel.

Looks like cleaning wheels is a popular job whilst self isolating.

Working my way through mine in between hanging new internal doors to keep the Mrs happy.

Probably because it is such a big job. I find it is taking me about a day per wheel to strip and prep for the paint.

Thanks, it doesn't show in the picture but it is black with a slight metalic in it.

I think it makes them look better than just plain black.
