Good afternoon all members and i hope that you all remain safe and well in these continuing uncertain times

PLC 530

BAM 52 H
PBK 988 M
H 974 DUE
6948 JI
NOP 117 F
SPT 756 K

HBV 332 N
BVX 107 L
JOK 199 N
HCX 632 L

Any information would be greatly appreciated

During my process of trying to identify as many Interceptors as possible, i have come across old adverts and articles on a number of cars
I am proposing to issue a list of all the Chassis numbers that i have original information on and will be happy to send this to the current owners, so that this can be kept with the car, if you message me separately
Some of the articles and adverts go back 40 years

KInd regards

Do you have anything for 2240 9415 which is CBY13M.
Thanks
Jim, for your records I have now found out from the original warranty claims (there were many!) that the original registration number of my car was VPD 544M. I don’t know when it changed to the current number (CBY13M).
Kind regards

And are you sure its XWP 433N and not M?

Hi Sticky, issue 270 was March / April 2020 and 272 was July / August 2020.

I’ve just noticed that I don’t have no 271. Does anyone know if I’ve missed out or was there a gap in the numbering?

I believe that due to the printers being furloughed during lockdown, issue 271 was replaced by an E-Newsletter, as per this post: https://www.joc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... 67&t=30881

I have just posted a new Topic - Interceptor Adverts and Articles following on from my quest to identify as many cars as possible and their former history
As Owners and Members continue to advise me on Chassis Nos and current and former registration numbers, i will continue to be able to link older adverts and articles with individual cars

Thank you all for the responses that i have received to date and continue to receive

Kind regards

Hi Jim - congratulations on a huge, but amazing, task. I'm (almost!) envious! I will list below some details for you - if you have any more to share back, that would be terrific:-

123-3752 Registration was originally YFH 14H in Silver. Subsequently changed to BLF 456H. I bought it in July 1986 for £600 (those were the days!) and sold it in May 1988 for £1650. In the history were notes to the effect that the car had previously been written off in Tain, Invernesshire. It went through a scrap dealer in Manchester, to a garage in Weston-Super-Mare who were going to use the engine for a drag racer. They never bothered and instead swapped the Interceptor for a speedboat. It was my first Interceptor, and by the time I bought it it had been badly repainted Red. I think this car must have gone to the great scrapyard in the sky many years ago, but I do have several photos of it.

2240-9282 Registration was BMB 962M. Originally supplied in Mustard, subsequently painted to a mid-metallic Blue. I bought this in December 1999 (with the help of Dave Barnett!) for £7000, and sold it in September 2001 for £7600. Originally this was owned by an MP on the Wirral. I sold it to someone who took it to London, and they subsequently sold it and it went to Australia. Last heard of, it had been fitted with fat wheel arches and painted grey...

128-4851 Registration was originally MJD 83L. Sold to a Scottish land owner and music industry financier through Charles Follett. Then went to JFN 816 L, then to 118 FOX, and finaly to KKP 718 L, which is what it currently wears. Originally in Royal Blue, it is now in a mid-Blue with Tan vinyl roof. I bought it in July 2017 and still own it

2340-1023 Original RHD convertible. Registration number KLL 536N (one of the ones on your list, presumably since it was shown in an advert in the club mag (mar-Apr 2019). Originally Brienz blue with a tan hood, now Havana Brown with tan hood (who made THAT decision??) I bought it in June 2019 and still own it. It has previously been on RPL 2. Originally sold through Newbury Motors of Halesowen West Midlands to a Mr Collins of Stourbridge - but that's about all I know of it.

Reg

Many thanks for your appreciation of the task that i have embarked on
My spreadsheet already extends to in excess of 43,000 lines and 500,000 entries !!! - but it has thrown up a great deal of interesting information

I have also started a new discussion on Adverts and Articles where i have uncovered historical information on a number of cars that i would be pleased to provide to the current owners of these individual chassis numbers

In respect of 123/3752, i had no information on this car so the information provided is helpful

In respect of 2240/9282, i had noted that this car was advertised for sale in JOC Magazine 159 09/10.2001 and that it had been repainted in 1997

In respect of 128/4851, i have no additional information on the earlier registration numbers for this car, but if i find anything else out, i will message you again

In respect of 2340/1023, i note that the previous owner to you was Taj Singh Bhogal Mem No 10822
The car was advertised in JOC Mag No 262 and 264 and i though that the car was Black at this time? with 74,000 miles
I have no additional information on the earlier registration number for this car, but if i find anything else out, i will message you again

I have you as Mem No 10572 but also appear to have an earlier Mem No of 3833 from JOC Mag 149 01/02.2000??

Many thanks for your detailed response

Kind regards

Hi Jim. Yes, I bought 2340-1023 from Mr Bhogal. The car is a chocolate brown colour that can look black. Either way, it needs to go back to Brienz once the rest of its restoration is done! The mileage is correct. It's currently undergoing a complete mechanical rebuild.
And yes, I was a previous lapsed member!
