Hi Grant

Thank you for your further response on Chassis No 2240/1022 Registration No HBW 717 N
Unfortunately i have no other information on this car
If i identify any information on this car i will message you again

I have to date identified current and historical information on 1610 cars
In addition to this, i have circa 500 registration numbers that i have not yet been able to allocate to a specific chassis number

Every response i get allows me to continue to fill in gaps and identify cars

Under my seperate thread on Adverts and Articles i now have information on more than 150 cars and am very happy to send these to current owners of these cars

Your continued responses are appreciated

Kind regards

THank you for responding

In respect of 2240/1804, I do have some limited information at the moment

The car was Ex Factory in 11.1976 in Cheviot Brown with a Beige Interior RHD standard Coupe
The colour was changed in 1983 from Cheviot Brown to Brienz Blue or Surf Blue - references to both colours
Owned by an employee at CRopredy Bridge Garage from 1990 to 2015 and subject to some restoration and recommissioning
Owned by Nicolas Howgego (JOC Mem No 10004) in May 2018 and referred to as Surf Blue with a Beige Vinyl Roof and with Driver & Passenger Door Mirrors
Registration NO OVC 823 P has been on the car since 2018 but no details before this
Sold at Brightwells Auction on 24th June 2018 for £23,300 with 52,726 miles
For Sale on E-bay in Lymington in September 2018 with circa 53,000 miles
Reference to being fitted with a Walnut Console and Walnut Dash

I trust this is of some help

Are you able to confirm your name, JOC membership number, approx location and date of ownership to update my records?

If i find out any additional information i will post again

Kind regards

Hi All

Since my last post, i have continued to identify current and historical information on Jensen Interceptors and now have some information on more than 2,000 cars
That is not to say that these all exist, but 1,445 + of these cars, the latest information that i have is since 2010
However the 550 + other cars, the latest information that i have goes back up to 40 years and a number of these cars may not have survived

I have only managed to identify circa 60 cars that have been scrapped
However as there are some circa 6,500 cars, i am sure that many more have met their end fate

Information provide by Members in America, Australia and Europe and other places continues to allow me to identify more cars and these responses have been greatly appreciated

Although i continue to link Registration Numbers to Chassis Numbers, the task remains difficult and i still have close to 500 Registration Numbers still to attribute to specific Chassis Numbers
Most of these remain listed in my earlier posts, so any assistance from Members or Guests continues to be greatly appreciated

I have been heartened by the continuing numbers of cars that i have managed to identify and although many of these require restoration, the fact that they still survive is a positive sign

If anyone has an Interceptor and wishes to enquire on the information that i have, please do not hesitate to ask

I am proposing to write an article for the magazine as i believe this information should be available to the Club, all Members and anyone else with an interest in or cars

Kind regards

Hello Jim.
You’ve taken on quite an exercise and I wish you well with it.
I feel a duty to contribute now and have two Interceptors to report –
125/5396 Interceptor II 1971. 383, G series, LHD USA model. Not registered. I bought this car in 1990 with extensive rust in the usual places. It’s an incomplete restoration project which I took as far as time and conditions allowed. It’s structurally sound now and would run, but has been long ‘shelved’ Martin Robey had told me that build sheets went with USA export cars, but I did get some history from the USA Dep’t of Motor Vehicles, years ago and from a former owner, who said it was first sold to a military serviceman on overseas duty and as far as I can tell, it was originally black, repainted silver and poorly over-painted in black again before I bought it, via an agent from ‘an old man’ (as I was told) in Norfolk, Virginia. It still has its severely sun damaged red trimmed interior.

136/8543, Interceptor III 1973, 440 J series, RHD. GEL 281L. I bought this on 19Mar2011. From some extensive history that I received with the car and subsequently from Robey’s, it was a Charles Follet dealership demo car and first registered as PMC 109L. This car is used when the weather is good, to the tune of about 500 miles a year. The original colour was Havana Brown. It’s been over painted, but it’s still brown and with beige trim.
I hope this is good information for your compilation.
Best regards,
Mike.

Mike

Thank you for your response
It is only with the help of people like yourself that i am able to continue to populate the information on all Interceptor's
I was assuming that you are USA based but 136/8543 still has an English Registration Number ?

In respect of 125/5396, i had no information on this car, so this becomes another identified car
I hope that you find the time (and money) to continue to improve this car

In respect of 136/8543, again i had no information on this car, so this becomes another identified car
This was originally a UK car, so i now have a gap to fill in from its manufacture until you purchased in 2011
It was interesting to note that you believed that the original Registration Number was PMC 109 L as the Chassis Data Book records it as 18 PF - clearly a Private Plate

I have a great deal of information on a number of cars that i have not yet been able to link to specific Chassis numbers, but each piece of information helps

If i find any other information on either of your cars i will advise you

Kind regards

Thank you Jim.
Sorry if I mislead you. I am In Essex, UK. I should have explained that I imported 125/5396 in 1990. I can add that the engine number is J2276 125G. This agrees with the statement of origin certificate that I received from Martin Robey. They have the date of manufacture as 07-06-71. Unfortunately, I’m not going to finish this car, so I think that at some point I’ll have to find someone else to pick up the baton, but I do at least feel that I may have saved it because it did look a wreck when I bought it.

Re 136/8543. The engine number is 3C11495. It appears that you are correct that this was first registered as 18 PF. This appears to be the first registration which was with Charles Follett, who recorded it as a ‘demo car’ It appears that they were both a distributor and owner. That was, it seems, until they sold it in May 1973 to A E Bartholomew & Co, Rickmansworth after which it became PMC 109L and remained this registration for a few owners until sometime between Sept 1993 and Sept 1994, when it became and remains GEL 281L.
Best regards,
Mike.

18 PF would be for Pat Follett, I assume, hence its use on several of the demonstrators or dealer exec cars.

Thank you, Richard.
I can see now that dealers would do that if it is easy to transfer the number from car to car as required, as I suppose it is.
