At around 3AM this Sunday I awoke with a plan to advantage our club internationaly by making available quality cars for sale.
First we must reinstate all JOC/JCCA shows and events. The International for instance would have at least two virus carriers at the event who would circle the room with the aim of selling raffle tickets. No table exempt. Members who contract this virus would perhaps "pass on" and the widows would be able to sell the Jensen to a market seemingly starved of quality cars at the best price. We hear all the time of only trash and projects on the market and rarely good cars. the money (after a modest funeral for the late member) would be injected back into the economy. Many of our members have owned lovely cars for over 30 years and it is time to "take one for the club". This could spread throughout the world's economy unlocking value in all fields such as stamp collecting et al. The carer who makes my cocoa totally agrees with me. You are all seldom far from my thoughts.

A seemingly radical idea to raise Jensen prices
Re: A seemingly radical idea to raise Jensen prices
I forgot to mention the prospect of gaining new and much younger club members. We have to plan for the future.......well some of us anyway. kenny38

Some things will certainly be dropping in price, and as always, the people with lots of cash can pick up the bargains.

What was that cocoa spiked with? Reminded me of Max Cannon“s Red Meat:

Re: A seemingly radical idea to raise Jensen prices
Kenny,
We all agree that we have two choices whilst in self isolation - spend time in the house with the missus, or in the garage working on the Jensen. And as there are several "What are you doing to the car whilst self-isolating" threads, I suspect that I know which one we have all chosen.
Kenny, just get out of the garage and breathe some fresh air- you must have a fuel leak somewhere - are you with me...
Cheers, Dino

Jensens.........when does it ever end!
Re: A seemingly radical idea to raise Jensen prices
Hi, Dino. Nice to hear from you. I do have problems while using some products such as cleaning the wheels and chrome on the ride on mower (Purple polish, an excellent product). Also some after care polish for the Jensen has a beguiling scent reminding me of the toy planes I made in my yoof. Someone here will know it. It does make me a little unsteady at times and I keep thinking about garden gnomes, unhealthy I know but what can I do? I have ventured outside but the dogs and Calver's goat have attacked me.
Great thinkers have always been misunderstood and I believe my plan is Keynesian in it's approach and will one day be lauded for it's insight and breathtaking vision by future members of the forum. Meanwhile I am eyeing off the gnome in the corner. Perhaps other thinkers on this forum can offer their thoughts. Kenny38

Slightly similar to the idea promulgated in Swift's pamphlet "A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor People from Being a Burthen to their Parents, or the Country, and for Making them Beneficial to the Publick."
The tract is an ironically conceived attempt to "find out a fair, cheap, and easy Method" for converting the starving children of Ireland into "sound and useful members of the Commonwealth." Across the country poor children, predominantly Catholics, are living in squalor because their families are too poor to keep them fed and clothed.
The author argues, by hard-edged economic reasoning as well as from a self-righteous moral stance, for a way to turn this problem into its own solution. His proposal, in effect, is to fatten up these undernourished children and feed them to Ireland's rich land-owners.
Not too much different than Kenny's plan!
