My other red runner
My other red runner
Got my other red car out for a drive. Different badge - much, much less power but an equal head turner. Don’t see many about anymore.

A very rare beast indeed.
Not many around any more. I remember them well but mainly because of rust repairs which in the end killed them all but a few.
Great cars to drive at the time.

Greg, your red runner is superb. Look like it’s in really good condition. Are you in the BMW club?

Karan - she’s in beautiful condition. Someone spent a LOT of time and energy on her. Just a couple of tiny things that needed sorting which I’m addressing at the moment. Not in the OC. Haven’t decided if I’m keeping her yet - I only bought it in November :0)

Hi Karan
Nice red Beamer, I have a red runner too along side the Interceptor, totally different driving experience.
First time I have posted a photograph, hope it works.

Re: My other red runner
Very nice indeed. All three of the right colour and a darn sight more sporty than my one for sure. Anyway, love the colour, two tone interior, room inside and so easy / simple to work on.
Any other red runners?

Hi Richard,
Would have PM you, but you have not set it up in your contact info.
Love the Taimer,
I had a 73 2500M from 2000 to 2019. Wolfrace wheels, triple Webers, Kent cam, O/D and it would go wherever you pointed it. The Lucas/TVR wiring was its bane and I sold it to a fellow TVR nut. When we sanded it down to the original red paint, the words Truculent Troll appeared in 3 inch letters on the rear valence. Look at your rear wheel wells, they will not be identical- one will have a flat upper arch from the factory mold.

Re: My other red runner
Hi Todd
The Taimar is a recent addition and, so far, is behaving itself perfectly, I had to drive it home about 500 miles after I bought it and it did not miss a beat.
This Taimar is a 3000cc TVR M series using the Ford V6 Essex engine, which I believe was not exported to the USA. Most American TVR M series cars used the 2500cc Triumph engine because this had US government approval for emissions.
Unlike my Interceptor which is a great Grand Tourer, the TVR is more a sports car with no driving aids, a rorty exhaust and harsh suspension (so far I have managed to slide sideways round a round-about after over cooking it slightly). I love driving it.
By the way I was in Greenville Kentucky a couple of years ago as a stop off point for the American Queen stern wheeler trip down the Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans, a fantastic experience. A point we were not aware of until we boarded the boat was that the trip had a American Civil War theme, very interesting.
While in Greenville my wife and I visited a wee museum which had a copy of a letter to Henry Ford praising his products written by Clyde Barrow. My wife works for a Ford dealership here in Inverness Scotland so was particularly intrigued and now has a picture of the letter in her office.
Regards
Richard

Hi Todd
Just for interest I found a picture I took of the Clyde Barrow letter, I guess you have seen it provided it is the same Greenville.

Re: My other red runner
The Essex V6 , 3000M cars were imported to the US in 76-79, but most of the imported TVRs were still 2500M models. My first car was a 65 mustang fastback, poppy red. It's replacement was a 66 gt350H replica that I have owned since 1987. Greenville, Kentucky is 45 miles south of the Ohio river and 110 miles east of the Mississippi river at the confluence of the Ohio. I grew up and was educated in Memphis. I moved my family to Greenville 21 years ago. You were in Greenville, Mississippi. Greenville, Kentucky is located in the western coalfields in Muhlenberg county. Our few claims to fame are John Prine, The Everly brothers, and Ephriam Brank (sharpshooter in the Battle of New Orleans). I have read a copy of Clyde Barrow's letter in the San Diego transportation museum. Clyde always drove his Fords like he stole them . Unfortunately, the steel was not sufficient enough to stop a drum of 45s.
If you guys ever come back to the mid south, I would love to take you on the bourbon tour.

"I have driven Fords exclusively when I could get away with one".
