made me think of the Jensen factory in the 80s

I visited Jensen in the late 80s. This picture reminded me much about the place. Not too big factory hall, docks on one side, cars parked on the other side, the bare concrete floor, sigh....

Here are a couple of more pictures of the DeLorean Operations in Texas back in 2015.

The owner has so many parts in his warehouse, that he told us that he expects that his grandchildren will still be selling DeLorean parts...

Look at all those doors...

"Who would really want one?"
Come on, every car has its followers. There's even an Austin Allegro Owners' Club, isn't there?
Is that second car in line wrapped?
Looks much better like that.
I always thought the brushed stainless steel finish jarred with the painted nose cap.
(That red Pantera look fabulous.)

I was talking to an owner of one at a classic car event a few years ago, he loved the styling and spares availability was no problem, he reckoned you could build a new one if you had the cash as so many spares were available.

Anyway he did say the performance was disappointing and it was not that reliable, mainly electrical problems apparently.

Dion.. It does also remind me of the Jensen Factory in the Late 80's.. so similarImage
I never really took to the cars either.. Funnily enough I never even watched the back to the future film either until the time when I used to take my friends mum down to the local shops as she was getting old and struggled walking.. I used to roar my 3 litre Capri down this long road they lived in, never even used to get out of 2nd gear from memory and his mum used to say to me "Ohh, It's Back to the Future Grant".. I then watched the film to see what she was on about.. I loved the old nutty fella in it more than the car!!
I read about 6 months ago that they were releasing a film about John Delorean and his life, the way the DEA set him up and the playboy life style etc.. my sort of film.. but nothing seems to have become of it yetImage

I think he was, there was another film out a few years ago and this film shows John DeLorean being set up by an FBI informant.. The informant set the drugs deal up where Mr DeLorean got caught..

If I remember the film I will repost.

Regarding the electrical issues - they discussed that in our tour of the DeLorean Motorcar Factory in TX.

(I might have gotten these details wrong, the tour was in 2015) but...

Apparently there are a lot of plastic panels within the car, and electrical components are mounted to them. We saw 2-3 in the process of receiving wiring / grounding modifications. It looked to me that they were running a heavy duty "ground bus" cable throughout the chassis, to provide a solid ground to tie everything to.

It was quite an extensive modification - in at least two of the cars I saw, they had the engine and transaxle removed.

I suppose you have to read the facts and make your own mind up DuncyManImage.. I think he got offered some sort deal and then it was all corrupt.. but who knows or will ever know the 100% truth of any of the facts of anything really.. only the person themselves :P .. I'm looking forward to watching thoughImage

Watched on the plane to the UK last week.

He was framed. Or at least enough that the jury acquitted him.

Easy watching and a good yarn.

I downloaded it and watched it last night.. I liked the Guy and a brilliant film I thought, he had his traits, but I guess everyone does or has had some,.. he was a real trier and you have to hand that to him.. well worth watching, I wasn't a lover of his son though,.He needed to get up off his Lardy and do something with his life instead of blaming his Dad all his life for the problems the whole DeLorean thing created.. good stuff and it's a "Yes From Me"Image
