Early Birthday Bling

Post by Richie »

Huuuuge thanks to John - aka "Blue -SP" for sending trims to try.
And here they are duly fitted.
The photos don't really do them justice but they are indeed nice n shiny. I rather like 'em.
I think the car is pleased with her birthday jewellery.

They look good.
As you calculated, there is a gap of maybe just under a cm between the "horizontal" edge of the ring and the "vertical" of the wheel, but the I reckon the wheels look much better with them than without.
They're certainly a snug fit. I gave up trying to push them on with the wheels on the car. Pushing one side just led to the other popping out.
With the wheels flat on the ground I could then use knees and hands to apply (lots of) even pressure and push them on.
They grip like a vice and not gonna come off anytime soon that's for sure.
I like em. Thankfully.
Thanks again John.

Much as I'd love to have the wheels properly chromed, the wallet said no.
Loudly.
So these were a great compromise.

As a happy customer, am I allowed to give John's business a plug?

I remember getting nice flat (not rounded) trims like this for my Mk1 Capri with rostyles. Back then there were more options as the wheels weren't quite so old.
The flat ones really made the wheel look deep dished, loved them.
I think the trims look better than if you had the wheel just chromed.
16 valves but 4 extra pistons.

They're stainless steel, so hopefully quite robust.

Shame JOC polish isn't available any more.
That was a terrific polish. Even smelled good.

I assume it was an existing polish, branded for the JOC... If my assumption is correct, is it available cos I'd love to use it again.
