A 235/60x15 is a approved fit net for a 6.5x15 wheel, I will post the tyre manufacturers data specs for the range of sizes, when I am in the office on Monday, working on my wiring puzzle tomorrow

Dear Members,

Good morning from Los Angeles !

THANK YOU all as usual for your comments and suggestions regarding my MK 2 rims/tires.

I shall be visiting the UK a week today, for a 3 week vacation and business. I will be in Manchester for much of the time.

The guy I bought the MK 2 from, has advised me that there were many company's that used the same calipers as the Interceptor MK 2.

Here is a list that he gave me, is this correct and would it be far easier to try and fine calipers from these various cars ?

Also while I am in the UK are there any NEW alternate brake calipers available that I could bring back with me to the US, that do not cost an arm and a leg ?

All the best ! Cheers Steven.

Hose calipers were fitted to the cars listed below, hope this helps, I'll keep thinking

Rover P6 3500 and 3500S

Yes Blue-SP, you are right about 6.5" wheels, my last post was mistaken.
Interceptor wheels though are 6", not 6.5".
I posted earlier in this thread the rim size limits for different size tyres, repeated here:

When fitting a P235/60x15 it will fit on a 6.5-8.5 rim but it is also permitted on a 6j wheel or a 9j wheel. It is listed in the literature I uploaded. Printed from the manufacturers association publication

Not according to the Continental Tyres Technical Data book, information taken from the ETRTO standards manual.

Whether the 235 tyre is permitted or not on a 6J wheel, it will probably adversely affect the car handling and driving feel, the sidewall geometry will be wrong and lead to sloppy steering feel and cornering.

Dear Dave,

Thanks for the Classic Automotive information, unfortunately I do not have any calipers to exchange for a set of new ones.

Hopefully,I can just buy a new or rebuilt pair of calipers ?

Cheers Steven.

According to Richard Calvers book RHD interceptor 111's after serial number 4650 were fitted with 6.5J wheels. My interceptor is after that serial number and has 6.5J stamped on the alloys. It is also fitted with 235/60 tyres and not only do they look great I have also found the ride very comfortable with satisfactory handling. No intention of moving to a different size tyre.

I have recently put 215 x 70 x 15 on my Mk2 - very happy with them - fill the wheelarches well - and have upped the gearing a little so that the speedo is now accurate.
