When choosing tyre sizes you should always consider the rim width as there are limits that you should stay within.
205/70 tyre: 5J - 7J rims.
215/70 tyre: 5½J - 7J
225/70 tyre: 6J - 7½J
235/70 tyre: 6J - 8J

215/65 tyre: 6J - 7½J
225/65 tyre: 6J - 8J
235/65 tyre: 6½J - 8½J

215/60 tyre: 6J - 7½J
225/60 tyre: 6J - 8J
235/60 tyre: 6½J - 8½J

Interceptor II and Interceptor III wheels are 6J so only the 205/70 is optimal on this width wheel. All other tyre sizes are moving towards the rim limit and the 235/65 and 235/60 tyres should not be fitted to 6" rims.
In the UK, fitting such tyres may possibly contravene construction and use regulations and may invalidate insurance.

Dear Chris,

Thanks for the details.

So to clarify, I am okay to put the 225 x 60 x 15 tires on the MK2 rims ?

What is the tire size consensus of the majority of members from past posts, the 225 x 70 x 15 as I put on my 72 MK3 earlier this year ?

I actually prefer a little more space between the tire and the wheel arch.

Cheers Steven.

I have a 74 Drophead. I have had 4 different sets and sizes. Ride. I believeLike ladies Blonds Brunettes and Redheads they all dance the same. Your choice. For the money here in the states the old Tiger Paw Uniroyal are hard to beat for the money and have a fantastic ride. I believe I have 225-60-15. Tiger paws are one of choices for the Muscle car crowd. RacerJoe

Thanks Joe, I am going to put the 225 x 60 x 15 on the rims and see how they look !

The 225 x 70 x 15 tire makes the MK2 rim look smaller in my opinion,the 225 x 70 x 15 it is considered a truck tire here in the US.

I will send some photos at the weekend !

Cheers Steven.

Dear Grant,

Good morning from Los Angeles !

Yes, I prefer the MK2 and always wanted one, the green color is metallic and looks descent.

The car is at my storage yard about 25 miles away , and so I will bring the car to my house this weekend.

The green MK2 has paint cracks in the roof and fender, looks like bondo filler. so we need to see what that is all about ?

The interior needs some work, carpet etc but not to bad.

I am looking forward to giving the car some needed love and attention.

The FF in the other photo is the same original color as the green MK2 and so I need to see if I want to repaint the car to this original color.

Are there any members out there that have this same color car ?

Thanks again,Cheers Steven.

Maybe try not to get too involved with the Mk2 Steven and just use it.. otherwise they tend to be off the road for far too long, it looks great.. use itImage
I have a couple of Mk2's, ones an ongoing project that I do for a hobby, no rot just modifications & upgrades etc, the other Mk2 is very similar to your one, my has the original carpets that are sort of moth eaten here and there but I left them because they are original and I like it that way, the car has dents and scratches all over it but it looks good so I left it like that and just use it and enjoy it for what it is... The FF you pictured is Martin R's car from this forum, doesn't it look great outside that beautiful house, strangely enough my mk2 that I use daily originally was that colour too which is what you are talking about.. Metallic Fawn, but mine is blue like all the rest of the Interceptors everywhere in the world  !!.. Just keep your Mk2 as it is and use it.. Well I would anywayImage, here's mine>>

Good evening members from cold rainy LA !

I was just told by the previous owner of my MK2 Interceptor that the rims that I had refurbished are actually 14 inch in diameter
and not 15 inch ???

Is this true, they look the same size to me when compared to the MK3 rims already on the car !

The previous owner is insisting that the rims are 14 inch.

Please verify that they are indeed 15 inch, did Jensen have 14 inch rims and tires on the interceptor MK2 ?

Thanks again guys for all your help and comments.

Regards Steven.

Stephen..Mk1s,Mk2s and Mk3's all had 15" Rims..your Rostyles look 15" to me, but take a measurement across the face of the rim and let us know what you come up with

But are they definitively from a Jensen?
It could be, maybe, that they are from another car. This type of wheel was fairly popular in the USA a the time. Magnum? On a Buick?

Good morning from Los Angeles,

Thank you Grant, Steve, Dion for your help with the rims !

I drove over to my storage this morning and brought back one of the MK2 and one of the MK3 rims to compare.

Here are the photos.

They are exactly the same width form side to side.

The MK2 is slightly lower from the side, but not by much.

So can I now call the previous owner and say we concur the MK2 rims are 15" ?

Again cheers for all your help !

regards Steven.
