Here’s a few pictures from the Facebook page of Jacek Progrzba.

He is currently building a BRAND NEW chassis/body shell for an Interceptor.

His estimate is around 1000 hours of work.

Wow

It's absolutely amazing John, yes very dedicated but I think we can all be dedicated at the beginning of these Jobs, I will be super-proud of him if he carries it through to the end, he's obviously a very clever man but he also has one right there beside him to copy, not that it makes it easy but it makes it easier that trying to design it yourself.
His work looks second to none.. I am very impressed John.. thank you for sharing it.
Sometimes things are easier to start all over again, like, when they just go in tear down a house or bungalow and start again and build new, it can be quicker and easier, maybe this way round for the interceptor would be the same too, but he has to make the body panels too yet, but boy these sheet metal workers are hot,.. some may know I had a man make an FF style bonnet for my Interceptor, amazing, at one point he had the skin on a table and was just swinging a flat swan neck bar at it, it seemed that there was no specific place he was hitting it, but there obviously was, a friend of mine that has been around FF's as much as Ulrich said it was the best FF bonnet and fitting the shape of my car was the best he had ever seen from a raw bonnet skin.. these skilled workers are SKILLED!!
Lets hope the man from the pics above see's it through.. I tip my hat to himImage

It's a good point that KeithImage..years ago when they used repair cars instead of write them off at the drop of a hat like now, if you had a serious accident in your Escort or Capri(well any make car for that matter but we all must love Fords :D ) I think main dealers could re-shell them, (maybe I am wrongImage), but new shells were available weren't they, and so if that did happen, when you went to pick your car up after the re-shell(if that did happen) it would normally have the same number plate would it not?, was the new shell re-stamped with the old number or a new one?.. I understand if we done it we would "Ringing" the car.. Not GoodImage.

The answer to that question is yes.
In the UK the DVLA will allow registration of a rebuilt vehicle under the original registration number if you have used a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original.
You must also have 2 other major components from the original vehicle from the following; suspension (front and back), steering assembly, axles (both), transmission or engine.
British Motor Heritage provide complete bodyshells for Minis, Midgets & MGBs and these are accepted.

But it can't be called an original unless he uses the original bulkhead. Other that that it will be a copy.

He seems like a very practical sensible skilled bloke. He has already done a Capri. He is looking for a rotten Interceptor.

But this will not be the "same specification" as the original, probably better I would think. And the new chassis or bodyshell should come from the original manufacturer, or an accepted/licenced source such as British Heritage. A "home-made" chassis?

All moot anyway, as the chassis is not being built in the UK I believe?

Pardon me, but tell me what is the point of all this? I notice he is looking for a rotten interceptor body. Well that will be difficult to find as all Inters are rust free or liberated. Very few rotten ones .......well not that you will be told anyway. I find counting trains more potentially rewarding. kenny38 8)
