VIN check

Post by kevin mackenzie »

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know a website that will allow me to check the VIN of a 74 Interceptor, all the sites seem to require a 17 figure vin and won't accept 8. Closest I came to was a 2008 Honda Civic!

Cheers K.

Hi Chris,

I want to check to see if it is a genuine sale and not a dodgy deal.

It is a US car being sold in California.

Cheers K.

Hi, 2211 is a USA series. 1124 will be the car sequence number. Was Mustard with a Tan interior and Tan (Vinyl) roof. Ex-factory 10.74. Engine 4C13312.
What information are you trying to find?

Really I wanted to get an idea of whether it was a genuine sale.

I'm assuming it's on sale in the USA? The club cannot really help you about if it is genuine or not but there are several active forum members in the USA who might be able to help. You should be able to find some of their posts in the Vehicles for Sale section of this forum.

I just tried to run that VIN on my BI database, but it only accepts 17 characters. Do you have a license plate number?

I have used InstaVIN https://www.instavin.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to look up these VINs. It uses NMVTIS.

4PCA430 didn't come up on the instant check. An individual can use the DPA (Drivers' Privacy Act) to block independent databases from listing a current owner or the registration could have expired. I have requested an advanced search, which usually takes 24-48 hours. I'll let you know if anything shakes loose.

Hi BritArms,

Thank you, that's very kind of you.

The car is in San Bernadino. I know California is a huge state, so no worries if it is too far away from you.

Just received the follow-up report. Nothing found. Could still be DPA or expired registration. Good luck.
