Problem is the plastic lenses that deteriorates and crazes, gets dull etc. after a few years. They also look horrible on a classic car. That said they do improve light output and use a lot less current. Not a bad thing with old dynamos and alternators that have an output of between 20A and 36A on vintage and classic cars, especially in combination with LED bulbs in the rest of the car´s lighting system.
This is only possible though when the wiring and earth connectors are 100%. The slightest bit of resistance due to dirt or corrosion can be the cause of all kinds of problems.

Just my opinion but they look awful, at least if it looked like standard when off it could be ok.
