No - that is the original solution from the Boston Hot Rod shop that did the engine swap in the 60s. Tubular manifold above the valve cover and than behind the engine downward. Guess we find a smarter way.

I guess Jensen learnt from SEA770 to build the chassis 4" wider on the "S" for this reason amongst others... I take it Ramshorn manifolds wont fit... Was you car originally a DS7 Joerg?

#328 from 1957 was originally equipped with a DS7 engine. It is interesting to compare the chassis with my other 541R #493, many minor details are different - but this car will get its original DS5 engine back ( with some goodies made by Denis Welsh Racing like forget crank and Fast Road aluminium head ).

Joerg,

I have several old pics of the owner and the car and Chevy engine, however the headers are not fitted. The story goes that he built the car for street racing and made some money winning races....

Looks like the engine was also mounted as far to the rear as possible... why not the original (Najarian) set up Joerg?

It is the hottest possible solution - at least for the driver and the passenger.
I guess you can race the car like this, but long distance travel will not be very pleasant......

Exact same thing Andi said about SEA 770 :D :D I thought the 327 was smaller than the Hemi and you had the problem solved... And always wear two different socks when driving the car, in remembrance of Pete :D

I have been driving 605KUE a lot recently. It is noticeably hotter around the transmission tunnel than a standard 541 but not uncomfortably so. But I would not like the extra heat of the exhaust running any closer .... With modern ceramics etc it is possible to make the exhaust manifolds cooler... perhaps this is a way to go..... or NASA space shuttle style tiles around the pipes :D
