Yes we knew all that already but the areas of the world where the battery raw materials are mined makes it someone elses problem.
The power station pollution agrument that London ULEZ uses is that it's not produced in densly populated cities so is better.
IMO generally government arguments will be with an eye to increase taxation wherever they can, not really bothered about CO2 or pollution.
16 valves but 4 extra pistons.

To put electric cars into context, transport (cars, lorries, trains and airplanes together) consumes around 40% of all the energy used in this country. This compares to 28% domestic use (energy in our homes), 17% industry (manufacturing) and 15% services (buses, hospitals etc., local government, farming).
Of that 40% of all the energy used in transport, just 2% is used by rail. About 3/4 is by road and 1/4 by air. If my maths is correct that means that about 30% of all energy used in the UK is on the road and about 10% is by air (90% of air energy consumption is for international travel).
Further dividing that 30% road energy use, 65% of it is personal (i.e. you and I using our cars), industry 21% and services 14%.
What all these numbers add up to is that we (all of us that is) use 48% of all the energy consumed in this country for our personal day to day living, 28% in our homes and 20% (99.9% of this is fossil fuelled) in our cars. This makes our use of cars the second highest consumer of energy in the country after our homes. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, there's a lot of us and we're an affluent country with over 25% of households having access to 2 or more cars or vans. Lorries transporting freight use just over 6% of total energy consumption.
These figures come from the "ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN THE UK" report published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, July 2018 (yes, I do read all the most exciting publications :roll: )
