Hi all I'm trying to get a 104 Radiomobile (voxson) 8 track working, I've cleaned all the circuit boards but get no sound, tried both output channels. The unit powers up fine and the 8 track runs. There's one connection coming out the back of the head unit that I've got nothing connected (blue arrow on pic) can anyone tell me what is for ? Thanks & Regards Steve

Re: Voxson 8 track wiring help
I think the wire is for an automatic electric aerial. Jensens had an aerial switch for this purpose, so the wire is left unconnected in our cars.
Re: Voxson 8 track wiring help
I'm no expert, but from the picture it suggests the +ve feed wire to the amp is spliced and also taken to the back of the main unit. If so, then I believe that is incorrect.
If it were mine, I'd earth (-ve) the amp and the main set bodies. With the +ve input only going through the grey amp wire.
But I don't profess to be an expert.....and if the set works of sorts, then Id be surprised if what I've suggested would result in sound. More likely a fault or internal connection issue.
As for the wire arrowed, all I know is don't put a live feed through it as it'll fry the unit

Re: Voxson 8 track wiring help
Many thanks for the help gents, definitely helps.
Think I may have tracked the problem down, at the back of the unit are some jump wires that look heat damaged. The insulation on some simply crumble away to nothing and one (black) is completely broken. Getting at the wires to make repairs is another matter every thing is so tightly packed. Cheers

Re: Voxson 8 track wiring help
Agree with Stuart - don’t put a +be on that wire, On the voxson GN104 8 track, there is the option of switching tracks via a foot switch, the wire is connected to ground when the switch is pressed and it switches the track. I have some diagrams / manual so let me know if you need.
Good luck - I had to change a motor a while back and yes it is very tightly packed.

Re: Voxson 8 track wiring help
Ok, I will tomorrow. Btw, from what I can see from your testing there is not a direct connection of -Ve to the amp. From your wiring it looks like the negative is connected to the voxson 8 track and thus the amp receives a negative via the cable connection between the amp and 8 track unit. When you reinstall in the car, the amp should be connected via a braided flat wire to -ve. For my setup, the connection is on the casing of the amp and a connection point inside at the bottom of the console. Please excuse me if you already aware and have this covered for your re-installation.
