Healey-- BOUGHT!!

Post by timmo »

I've been looking for ages and seen some right sheds, now finally found a good un! I'm looking forward to those balmy summer days of open top motoring

At last the dear old cv8 has a working stablemate.

I would post a picture, but Im too excited!, I haven't even picked it up yet!

It is a great car, and was delivered for free this morning!.The owners father sprayed the whole thing in a light coat of oil to preserve it. It needs brakes, but it was all thrown in with the sale, calipers, wheel cylinders, shoes, pads, the whole works. There is no rust on this car and the mileage is genuine of 81,000 backed up by mot's up to 1980! It just wants tidying in places and enjoying. The hood is original and is white(not sure about that yet) and it has had an overdrive gearbox fitted. I'm well happy and can't wait to drive it :D :D The price i'll reveal to those who want to know!!, I'll say it was very good value indeed...

Okay, first thing, the paint code is GL 35786. I've looked under the dash etc, and it appears original. What is the colour please? I can't seem to find the code listed anywhere.

Cheers, Tim

It looks like the engine has been upgraded to MK 2 spec?

Its all new to me, how does the mk2 engine differ? The previous owner told me it has been lightly modified but I don't know to what extent. It all seems pretty clean in the engine bay.

Nice looking car.

I think it needs that styling touch of the blacked out "insides of the headlight buckets", but that's just my opinion.

Well, the MK I engine had an oil separator/canister and a rope seal on the crankshaft. The MK II has the much better lip seal and the oiling system differs, amongst other small differences.

That looks a nice car, one you can use, and improve over time whilst still enjoying it.

The oil filler cap on early engines is on the bulkhead and later engines it is on the inlet cam cover. This looks like an early one to me.
