Missing SP found

Post by DPP »

For the second time this year a long forgotten SP has turned up on my doorstep, the first was a lovely survivor car that has been stored for many years and looks to be in good condition.

Todays find was a bit differant with the car stripped to a bare shell for restoration around the late 80s or early 90s. The car was also stripped of much of its paint and then sat outside for many years, many parts are missing including the engine, gearbox and rear hatch, but the interior and some parts were safely stored in a dry loft and are in very good condition although a little dusty.

For the records the car was 131 4549 I have bought all the usable parts but the shell is way beyond economical repair and with so many other bits missing it is sadly going to be scrapped.

I will clean up the Black interior when I get time and it will then be for sale, the seats have light patina and have survived very well as have the doorcards and the dash is pretty good with a small bit of damage that could possibly be fixed.

Here are some photos of the car.

What a shame for an SP to end its days like that.

Hello Dave
Read your post before I saw the pics and wasn't expecting that.
Unbelievable the way metal rusts over time

Shame but doubt if it's the last one we will
see that been left to the elements

It is very sad to see a car get into this condition, its a small consolation that some bits were safely stored and will go on to improve other cars.

It comes with a nice frying pan.

Maybe you can salvage the remote oil filter and the passenger window frame.

That looks like my SP 131/4592 when I first saw her. It was love at first sight. I did most of the work myself. Kenny38 8)
