Temporary Insurance Cover for Expats in UK

Post by jd »

Hi Guys,
I visiting the UK for a couple week over Christmas, and I have the opportunity to drive my Dad's interceptor, but his insurance company will not insure UK citizens who live out of the UK > 6mths of the year.

Any recommendations on how i could get temporary insurance for a week?

Thanks,

As one of the 5 owners who took their cars to the USA for a few weeks in June, the only company we found in the USA who we could get cover with, was Hagerty.
We had to contact Hagerty USA as the UK wing of the company couldn't arrange cover.

It may be that Hagerty UK can arrange cover for you. Certainly worth a try. Unless that's who your father is insured with already..

Driving your Dads pride & joy around in ‘Snow, Sleet salted roads’
Can imagine your Dad thinking ‘How do I get out of this’

Option 1: Temporary sabotaged the car
Option 2: Sorry Son I’ve lost the Keys
Option 3: Sorry son you’re not covered

Merry Christmas

When my Dad visited for two weeks from Ireland Hagerty added him to the insurance on one of our Jaguars for free.
