I've a couple of seats I'm trying to rescue, so I've been stripping them down prior to taking them to an upholsterer.
While removing the seat runners, I spotted this note on two separate seats.

Brilliant.. I am sure in one of the books or maybe Ulrics website there is pics of all the trimmers Stu isn't there? Not sure if any of them are Roy though
Nice when you find things like that though
He's probably sadly passed away now

Very interesting to see the difference in the grain and thickness of the leather between 67 and 69!
Have you seen our stolen Jensen FF 119/011 https://twitter.com/jensenffdotcom
Re: Roy, the Jensen Motors Trimmer
They're both '69 John (poor photo).
I think the difference in leather look is due to one leading a sheltered life and the other seat having got damp.
Such a shame the good seat base had a puncture hole. Otherwise it would have been a mint example. Apparently the pleated section is folded then stitched, so to repair one line of pleat can involve unpicking the rest (depending on which way it folds).
Anyhow, my suggested solution was to take MK1 seat backrest and transfer the whole pleated section from it to the seat base. The horizontal crease line matches that on the seat base (later MK1 seat) well.
It will be interesting to see how well the partial retrim comes out - hopefully retaining the patinated look (which you'd lose if it the tear was simply filled).
I'll have a look at Ulric's site Grant to try and find Roy!
