Tool identification.

Post by Barrie »

This has been in the back of my CV8 for so long I’ve forgotten what it’s for.
Any ideas what it is and how to use it?

I am sure I have seen one before but in a modern car but it was straight.

Assuming you want a straight answer Barrie, we have one of these too! It's to hook round the alternator to assist with tightening the fan belt.

Always give it to me straight Helen.
Everyone knows I’m not one for light-hearted banter.
Now I’ve got that sorted out I just need to work out how to use the blessed thing!
Presumably the hook goes around the frame of the alternator and catches onto a stout part of same and a socket spigot into the star shaped aperture and a lever applied?
If I end up in hospital expect a letter from my solicitor.

Ps Why do I buy these things and then forget to use them?
