Please can anyone tell me how to remove the gear knob off the gear stick. I have remove the small grub screw with an allen key but of course the push button on the top is connected. I am trying to repair the burr walnut veneer finish that on the centre between the passenger and driver so i need to remove the metal plate upon which the veneer is fixed. Just don't want to damage anything by brute force.

Hello Karan
Once you have loosened the grub screw then unscrew the knob itself complete with the button and then the button will pop up and you can lift the 2 parts off together

Just keep your hand over the button because when it pops off it can be with some force and disappear somewhere in your car - been there/done that!
