Hi, I am searching for my dads long lost Jensen 541s 1961, he sold it years ago now and i would love to locate it for his 60th birthday. The last known registration was WOL 47. DVLA don't have records of it, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The last know colour was cream. Thanks

Do you have any more information, like the original registration number, or the date of first registration?
Ideally the Chassis number, interior colour, manual or automatic, RHD presumably.
Any other details might help the experts on here too...

Hi Amy, I am sorry that I have not responded earlier to your request for information. Unfortunately, as John has hinted, the registration number alone is not always enough to identify the exact car. Often it is enough, but in your case the club records do not have an entry for WOL 47, so without additional information it is impossible to take this any further.

WOL 47 was a Birmingham registration from June 1958 - predating the 541S by more than 2 years.

Hi all thank you for your responses, we know the registration before was AKW1 that was second owner, Anthony Keith Webb, the first owner from new in 1961 was the managing director of Unigate dairy’s in Birmingham UK. Anthony Keith’s webb bought the car when it was 3 years old we think. The interior is red leather and original car colour was Fawn, it’s 4 speed rolls Royce automatic gear box and we believe the car was built mid way in production of the 150 odd produced. The mileage on the car when it was sold by my dad was 50,000 miles. Definitely Right hand drive. And This model had steel wheels and hub caps
I hope this info helps in any way!?
Thanks for everyone’s help

Hi Chris_R my dad says when he bought the car it had another registration he can’t remember but the WOL 47 was a registration he put on himself from a hillman imp which was a donor car because it had a pre suffix number and he put that registration onto the Jensen because it suited the year of the car better,
Thanks so much

This may or may not help, but W F Bache & Son of Birchfield Road, Birmingham bought C-V8 104/2298 in 1966. W F Bache were dairymen and the company was part of Unigate, whether it was part of Unigate in the middle 1960s I don't know but whoever at W F Bache & Son bought the C-V8 is a good candidate for being the owner of the 541, so was a 541 ever bought by W F Bache & Son?

Think you are going to have to do some more digging Amy. Fawn does not appear to be a 541S colour.
About 17 automatic cars with red interior from 1961 were: Grey, Ivory, Black, Crimson, Blue or Green

Thanks everyone, I have worked out that the car in question is definitely chassis 1074, it started life according to the records with registration LFO 725 and is now on the road in Switzerland. It turns out that if I had searched for Amy's surname in the first place, I could have worked this out in about 30 seconds !

According to our records, Amy's father owned the car from 1985 to 1995. I will try to dig out some photos later on. Also, the records suggest that the 2nd owner started his ownership in 1968, I.e. when the car was 7 year old.

The chassis data book records an ex-factory colour as deep carriage green with red interior. It's recently completed restoration has resulted in a metallic blue with red interior. Prior to this it was at Appleyards painted red.

Cheers

Dave

Excellent work, John and Dave. 1074 is now with Sjef and Lis van der Wee, who have restored the car. Initially it was red when they bought it. I‘ll be happy to pass on their contacts, and they will be excited to hear from you.

Felix, you beat me to it!

there is a picture (same as above) on this thread whilst the car was in Poland

Amy,

I have lots of other pictures if the contact with the current owner does not work out. If another 541S (or 541 / 541R) would be acceptable, please pm me and I may be able to suggest someone in your area.

Dave

Good to know the mystery is solved, but Felix, i did nothing - but I am intrigued to know if the first owner of the 541 was W F Bache & Son, they were a dairy and part of Unigate at some stage and were in Birmingham (the company is dissolved now). The thing is I don't know who at W F Bache the C-V8 was bought for so I was rather hoping he, nearly always a he, had a 541 bought for him as well and that time there was a name.
