HELP panel beater needs pictures !

Hi I'm very close to having to go/no go on fitting the 'glass spoiler Jensen cars fitted.

Respectfully I'm not after opinions whether its a good or bad idea but rather pictures of how it is fitted to go with the instructions I picked up from an old thread of Keith's.

As far as I know there isn't another in NZ I can look at, I don't want to fit an alternative spolier as some have and to reconstruct the earlier metal chin spoiler isn't an option.

Hence the plea for images, close ups rather than "overall front/side pictures of the whole car of which I've found plenty already thanks

How people have dealt with the wheel arch lip, the bolting to the wing and p seal, the detail fit above the bumper, below the lights, whether anyone has strengthened the lower lip of the spoiler as it seems quite flimsy and tricks or suggestions. Basically anything that might help my body guy - an older craftsman that has done a brilliant job on sill replacement, work out how to best fit it. Otherwise i might chicken out and leave as is ... !

Thanks in advance - any and all help is gratefully accepted. Regards Julian
I

Wonderful car, leave as is!!

Look at the old Robey group sales leaflet- there is said spoiler -
The steel one is class, but I still wouldn't fit to your lovely example- its class as is in my view.

Hi Tim I knew you'd say that - it's one reason I'm wavering .... :D

The car used to have the steel version (per your saloon), fitted in around '84 I believe - but my body guy doesn't want to try and recreate it himself without one to reference.

For me it's really to hide the anti-roll bar which is so much lower on these later cars.

50:50 call ... cheers J

Hi Julian,

I had a look at Richard Calvers book and see your issue on the anti-roll bar, I have the earlier raised and angled AR mount. Is there any way you could come up with a different AR bar location? With all the other mods you have done getting in a slightly stiffer adjustable AR bar would be a great addition to the handling. Getting a bar would be easy but can't tell if there is anywhere else you could mount it - back side of the vertical bar?

I've wavered.
Fitting the spoiler is a bit too serious so back to the barn for it.
Meantime sills are done and look like new, dent man has taken the couple of tiny dents out somehow and made them disappear and a fresh cut and polish has the car looking sharp !

Hi Julian,

I've been racking my brains for the last week regarding the spoiler, as I remembered an article with LOTS of different photos of spoilers that people have fitted on their Interceptors over the years. Alas, I couldn't find it on-line, so I think it may be in an Aussie Car Club article. However, I'm certain that I saw it online - could it be in one of Stoo's weekly JChats?

Anyway, I did find this with regard to an original S4 restoration/repair, with some nice close ups of the steel spoiler - but then again, you have the 'glass one, so I didn't think it was of much use:

Good luck with the progress,

Dino

Dino that is fantastic thanks. I had a copy - and found again the thread I think you refer too. It had instructions from Keith for fitting the glass one and pictures of all the various varieties.
Actually I’m keener now on the steel one as one was once on my car and I think it’s a bit more fitting. The glass one destroys the front valence if you fit it properly. The S4 just goes along time the bottom.
I’ve seen the link you sent before but forgotten it. Plan is to bully the aged panel beater into replicating it. Someone said Robeys have it. But they don’t. Will see what he has to say. Thanks again.
