EA / Factory cars.
With the recent arrival of HEA4K in my life I was wondering how many factory registered cars there were, what they did and how many have survived?
As I understand the EA reg cars are registered by the factory as demonstrators / motor show cars / specials so there should be some interesting histories out there.
So to start a list, HEA4K, RHD JH number 1 and motor magazine test car and factory demonstrator. I'm compiling all the info about this car as a couple of ex JML chaps have stories about the car as well as the massive knowledge of Tony Marshall and the documented history.
As a matter of interest did any of the other HEA Healeys survive?

Re: EA / Factory cars.
I know I haven't yet processed anywhere near the full complement of Jensen-Healeys but at the moment HEA 4 K is the only one that is known to survive. HEA 10 K went to the Healey family originally but I don't have any more recent information.

Re: EA / Factory cars.
There were quite a lot of 'EA' C-V8s
261 FEA, JM/EXP/103, the first prototype C-V8, no record, presumably never left the care of the factory.
377 KEA, 104/2025, was sold to a director of Fisher Clark & Co Ltd., part of Norcross, no record of car after 1976
398 KEA, 104/2028, the 1963 Earls Court Motor Show car, written off after a crash in 1971 (though there are references in JOC magazines 10 and 19 to the car being rebuilt, but it hasn't been seen since).
580 MEA, 104/2033, the Sedanca or Coupe DeVille, there is no indication that this car ever belonged to JML, the first owner lived in Birmingham so presumably the 'EA' reg is just a coincidence, the car survives.
890 KEA, 104/2047, first owner J J Boex, Norcross Group, survives but I don't know where it is now (Andrew Cassar bought and sold it sometime between 2004 and today).
477 NEA, 104/2092, first owner Richard Jensen, was with Angela Keogh-Golisch but she resigned her membership in 2007, 'too busy', but did say she would keep the car, no contact since.
12 REA, 104/2100, registered to JML but used by Tony Good of Good Relations, the JML PR company, burnt out in a workshop fire in 1980
181 GEA, 104/2113, Charles Follett's personal car, survives in Australia.
151 PEA, 104/2134, JML demonstrator, sold to a restoration company in Manchester in 2009 as a pile of bits on a chassis, not heard of since.
750 PEA, 104/2164, JML demonstrator, set the caravan towing record, survives in Australia.
66 UEA, 104/2173, first used by Richard Jensen, survived in 2013.
AEA 899C, 104/2174,first used by Brian Owen, survives in France.
12 REA, 104/2176, first owner J J Boex of Norcross, survives in Australia.
568 REA, 104/2207, first registered to JML though the first owner is recorded as Mr Van Achten of Oldham, but he wasn't, he was Von Achten, but Van Achten would have sounded better in 1965, was with Roel Koorzan in France, not sure if Roel still has it.
AEA 51, 104/2227, no record of any connection to JML, not recorded since 1968.
991 TEA, 104/2240, JML demonstrator, last known in Australia in 2006.
405 TEA, 105/2147, first owner Lord Strathcarron (reregistered S29), survives in Eire.
701 KEA, JM/EXP/107, stayed with JML for two years, survives in Devon.
CEA 381C, JM/EXP/109, the Commanders Cup car, now owned by Chris Walton
CEA 382C, 112/2315, stayed at JML until sold by the liquidators in 1978, last recorded in 1999 but may have gone to Australia and then back to the UK but no firm record of this.
DEA 318C, 112/2339, was a JML car for a year, survives in Worcestershire though off the road for years.
FEA 901D, 112/2362, JML demonstrator, survives in Essex
GEA 196D, 113/2366, used by Richard Graves, not recorded since 2002 when the owner moved to Spain and sold the car.
HEA 381C, 112/2370, JML demonstrator, survives in Germany.
EEA 44C, 112/2374, used by Richard Jensen, just found in a field in Surrey (see a different thread on this forum).
DEA 903C, 112/2380. used by Brian Owen, not recorded since 1972
EEA 360D, 112/2386, JML demonstrator, survives in Surrey.
EEA 592D, 112/2415, another J J Boex car, last recorded in 1993, believed broken at Medway Interceptors.
FEA 355D, 112/2436, no known connection to JML, recorded as scrapped.
FEA 505D, 112/2444, no known connection to JML, first owner lived in West Bromwich, last known owner in JOC until 2005, probably survives.
FEA 711D, 112/2459, used by Brian Owen and borrowed by David Millard for his honeymoon, survives in Kuwait.
That's an awful lot of cars used as demonstrators or as company cars or sold to companies associated with JML.
Regards
John (who needs a cuppa now, after typing that lot out)

Re: EA / Factory cars.
It is, and they were sold as second hand cars once JML had done with them, i suppose it was a way of keeping the C-V8 production line busy and satisfying buyers who didn't want to pay the full price but wanted a C-V8 (and, though they probably didn't realise it at the time, the first private owners probably got 'sorted' cars as JML went through the pain of putting all the faults right before they sold the cars, and there were always a lot of faults).

Re: EA / Factory cars.
There was also EEA 72C, the prototype C-V8 FF car:
And of course BEA 693C, the C-V8 that became an Interceptor:
And also the first Interceptor and first FF, HEA 1D and HEA 4D:
Tony Marshall provided the following information about this picture:
ajm541s wrote:For the curious:

Left of the car is Gethin Bradley of Good Relations and I think the man with his back to us is L J K Setright, well known eccentric journalist. Just visible with the bald head I think is the Duke of Kent, and joining in from the right is Dick Graves, Marketing Director.
