I've often wondered about the ballooning of Webasto and Convertible hoods at speed. Is it low pressure on the outside or is it a pressure build up on the inside that causes it?hemi wrote:Just thinking if that Webasto roof is going to stay in place? I can imagine the low pressure at speed above the roof will be trying to suck that thing off its rails..

Re: Open for discussion
Ah, I was waiting to see who'd be the first to spot that!
This was of course considered, the webasto alas has been removed and stored for later use. At the International I presented my first replacement some Wickes perspex and gaffer tape.
I am hoping to have a permenant solution before the roll cage goes in, hopefully in the next month.

Keep us posted on your progress! I would love to be out there with my 8.0-liter MKII with GVO, but such is not in the cards for me. Thanks for the inspiration.

You could also remove it completely and stand up with one hand on the wheel and the other hand(stop that at the back!) in a nazi salute. That should get rid of the camber to the road side where it belongs. Kenny38

Re: Open for discussion
Further update,
After doing some research and scome scrimping and saving I have finally got hold of my new front brake set up.
Thanks to Andy down at Rally Design in Kent (a very helpful and knowledegable chap) I have a pair of huge front rotors some moutning bells to machine and some equally huge four pot calipers.
I went for the four pots for two reasons, they are significantly chepaer than six pots and with the larger piston diameter should give at least equal braking as the six pots.

You're going to like the Wilwood's. They were transformative on my MKII:

Re: Open for discussion
Slow progress at the moment, as work keeps getting in the way!!
I have mangaed to test fit the new rotors, so I could calculate the caliper mounting bracket dimensions.
It wasn't until I put them next to each other I realised quite how different they are!

I suspect you'll notice a MASSIVE difference in braking with those!

You should have joined the RAF section. Funny that I was just reading the Heat evacuation thread and thought about posting a suggestion to invert a wing at the rear of the engine bay to creat a Venturi to drag the hot air down but can't work out whether this would affect handling, so didn't post.
