Worst Model. Ever.

Post by VFK44 »

On eBay at present is this masterpiece of the plastic-caster's art. Luckily the item is titled "1960s Jensen Interceptor Made in Hong Kong" as otherwise there was little chance of me spotting that it was meant to be a Jensen. The front grille, lights and bonnet show some evidence that the manufacturer had once seen an Interceptor, but after that it steadily gets worse, and by the time you reach the rear of this flaccid, unfortunately coloured mess, it appear to have vertical rear lamps and a boot.

It would be worth buying just so you could take parts in arguments of "Neo vs Enco - who makes the most accurate model?" by slapping the nasty thing down on the table and claiming it had hidden merits.

It's clearly an FF (bonnet) so maybe that's why you had such a hard time recognizing it :D

I'm impressed by the authentically rusted-away floor.

It has more of a Coupe rear end than Interceptor.

Maybe the designer was blind or had never seen one to copy?

I think the club should buy a few and use them for concourse trophies

Apart from the awful quality, the price of around $10 but the postage of $13 must make this some of the heaviest plastic ever made. Don't think I'll get one for the collection.

I see no evidence in any of the pictures of the toy that it is labelled as a Jensen Interceptor, in fact it doesn't appear to be labelled as anything. It just has the manufacturer name and Hong Kong. I suspect more likely is the ebay seller is trying it on by using that name to lure potential buyers thinking they're getting something rare and relevant.

I'm with Chris R. There's nothing to suggest this is anything to do with an Interceptor, except the seller's description. It looks like a cheap, generic toy car with no merits apart, probably, from its original purchase price. If the seller had a large quantity of these I could maybe understand it, but to try to screw someone over for the sake of 10 Bucks? Sheesh.

It does look very Alfa at the front, but the designer was definitely trying to do a reverse slope rear side window, and that's quite unusual.
