The bracket did exactly that originally--it is the belt adjuster pulley. The idler pulley itself is available at any parts store brand new. The big bracket is on most Fords from 1969 to about 1974 depending on the model/engine. Very popular on Mustangs. Of course the car has to have factory AC. Hope this helps.

If you do decide to beef up the sway bars (highly recommended) you should also beef up the mounting points for the links to the a arms. They rip off pretty easily under duress :shock: Image Leonora giving 9272 a workout...Stiffer rear springs and a good set of bushings help a lot as well.
