Jensen Interceptor at Slalom

Post by Twright55 »

For your amusement, I am uploading some photos of my me and my Jensen participating in a slalom this past weekend. A number of spectators said it looked like I had it up on three wheels at times!
Adequate swaybars desperately needed!!! lol

Too cool! I bet that was a real crowd pleaser. Good job of keeping the road rash off the sill covers. I seem to always take the short cut thru the cones :)

Reminds me of Doug Meyers video of Merlin doing a slalom, think he beat everyone but a single E Type Jag.

I've rebuilt the motor and it is now a 505ci stroker. To be honest, it has way more torque than the chassis can put to the ground and you have to be VERY gentle with the throttle to keep the rear end planted. This was the first time driving it in anger with the rebuilt motor. It's going to take some practice to get good at this slalom thing. That said, I did ok but was beat by a Mazda Miata (w/ aftermarket turbo), the white 2016 Corvette that you see in one of the photos, and the E-Type that you see in the last photo.

Next, I need to take to a 1/4 mile dragstrip and see what it can do there!

Great pics!! Beautiful car too! Looks exactly like mine under the hood. Whats the VIN#? The Jag is on slicks and I am guessing not a street car!

Mine is 133/5832. Built in July '72.
So I added that to my signature, where it probably should have been all along, lol.

Did your car originally have the square flange Holly carb too?

Yes, mine had the square flange Holley.
Yours is looking very tidy under the hood, considering the number of hoses, lines and wires we have to deal with. I see I need to work on mine a bit!

Thanks. I did all that clean up work in 1987-88 time frame. Still looks pretty good too. One thing I found with this car is it does not seem to deteriorate just sitting like some other cars I have had. I have an Edelbrock 1406 carb on it now on the original manifold.

Hi Slotcarone :) ,I notice you or someone has added a bracket to hold an idler wheel for the aircon/alt belt as they do bounce a bit there don't they, ... did you fabricate that or did you take it from another car please slotcarone? ... I need to something like that to mine as I am getting belt bounce there when the air con is switched on.

That is a bracket from any early to mid seventies Ford. It attaches with the two bolts on top that you can see and also one on the side of the compressor near the bottom.I had to remove part of it that connected it to the Ford engine water pump housing. I recently removed the V pulley and replaced it with a flat pulley that is made to run on the back of a serpentine belt and now the belt goes under the pulley instead of over it. Gives better contact on the alternator. Car now has a belt without the cogs on top.
