F E Corbin

Post by John Staddon »

A bit of along shot as it is a long time ago, but F E Corbin was a Financial Director of Jensen Motors Ltd, see Graces Guide for 1953, he also bought a C-V8 in 1966. Does anyone have any knowledge of him, how long he served at JML and what his names were (Frederick Edward, Francis Edgar...)?

Regards

Not so much of a log shot after all, thanks Steve. He was born in Whitstable, Kent, in 1901 but grew up in Jersey and was a chartered accountant by profession, his speciality seems to have been liquidation but there also a link to what we would call 'the media' today, in 1930 he was a director of Plays Ltd (as announced in The Stage so presumably Plays Ltd had something to do with theaters and putting on plays) and in 1960 he was the financial advisor to Westward Television. He may have been a director of JML but he always lived south of London as I can also find an address in Sidcup and he was living in Virginia Water when he bought the Jensen (actually he bought two, 2045 and 2433) and he always worked in London. Married 1951, one child born 1953. Died 1971.

All this info comes from knowing that F E stands for Frederick Eli, it was invisible when searching by initials only.

Regards

John
