What is this?

This is soviet GAZ-14 Tchaika. Only appr. 1000 cars were made since 1978 to 1988.
Which connection it had to Jensen. Look to the oil fluid reservoirs. There are some other western goodies - Hitachi air conditioner in the trunk, Mercedes velour in the interior etc.





Why particularly this car is interesting? This is first GAZ-14 ever made, it was presented to Mr.Brezhnev to his 70th birthday and ts only GAZ-14 which was maroon. All others were black, and some were gray.
There was interesting story about choosing the color. When Breznev was asked - in which color should be finished his gift, he hesitated for moment, then pick up his pen - and says - look to this. Then pen was sent to Gorky Car Plant, so they painted body to exactly the same shade.

Looks terrific Denis and I think the General Secretary would be delighted to be chauffeur driven every morning down to Old Swan. He'd have to be careful where he parked it though.
