JENSENS IN IRAN

Post by ChrisG »

For those in the business of collating number plates of cars that still exist but are lost here's 3 more, all possibly from a collection controlled once by the Shah - now the Mullahs I guess.

1. 541 BGA Jensen 541

2. JYR 89K Interceptor III

3. SJA 25H Interceptor II ?

They were a bit dusty when last seen a couple of years ago but kept in an underground garage in Tehran.

Strange. 541 BGA (at least the car but I assume also the reg. number) is in Switzerland.

I can only guess it was either brought back from Iran at some point or it lost the reg number somewhere along the way.

I did have a photo of it in Iran somewhere but wrote the numbers down on a card which I've recently come across.

I have JYR 98K on my list of G series Mk3 cars.

Think its been upgraded to Interceptor S specification.

How long ago was this that you "wrote the numbers down on a card"?

From the posts above, can we assume than none of these cars are still in Iran?

SJA 25H is the famous Mk IV FF.
So, probably no longer any of these Jensens in Iran. But what a history!

Just to say that I am planning a visit to Iran in September so if anyone has any news of recent sightings or information I would be very happy to check it out and bring back a photo. There are certainly some very old vehicles on the roads there , I especially like the 1950's Mack trucks. I suspect many more classy vehicles are hidden also.

Yes, they are. The wipers should park on the drivers side of the car, i.e. towards the right for RHD cars. There is a good example picture of LHD and RHD cars next to each other in the current Classic Le Mans thread.

But way more impressing than the cars were ancient Persepolis, Hafez's grave in Shiraz and especially the marvellous city of Isfahan.
