Tyres - same old topic but help needed

Looking to put new boots on the beast for next year. Currently on Pirelli P4000's but no spare. As these are no longer available anybody got any thoughts on Vredestein Sprint Classic R15 96V's ?
Any comments appreciated.

Tyre prices appear to have gone a bit strange (UP) in the past few years. To me £200 or so a corner is a bit steep. BUT as they are the principal bits that keep you on the road, I won't compromise for possible CCS (Cheap Chinese sh~t) tyres.

I've mounted the Vredestein Sprint Classic under several Interceptors and all the owners are absolutely happy with them.
I wouldn 't hesitate to put them under my car if I where you, it's a good, reliable tyre.
You can consider Michelin XWX but they are very expensive and there's not that much of a noticable difference under normal driving conditions.

Hi Shaun,

With Falken (german make) you do not comprimese at all. I also want to drive with good and reliable tyres. With the power of a Jensen it is stupid to go for "bad" tyres.

It's worth thinking about Blockley Tyres, I have them on the FF. At the time they had the benefit of being good and the cheapest available, still 150 plus VAT a corner though. It would be worth speaking to them at the NEC, I'm sure one of members got a really good deal from them there.

As far as the Blockley tyres go they were better than the fan belt - at least the tyres didn't let go

I spoke to Blockley last year at the NEC and they were talking about a healthy discount if I bought a set and they would also fit them for free if I let them know when I was going. I dont remember the exact figures but I am sure if I bought 5 I was only going to pay for 4.

I'm running Blockleys and am very happy with them.
Another plus for me is a more classic tread style and sidewall writing than the Pirrelli.

In the past I have seen quite a lot of Vredestein Sprint (on Austin Healey/TR6) which could not be balanced. Appearantly some have/had small defects in the tyre wall causing small bulges/uneveness.

The answer is simple:

Black wall Tyres.

1. For utter originality, the Dunlop SP Sport Radial 'Aquajet' available in 205/70/VR15 as per day 1 but now with modern compounds. ( I am about to fit these to my FF II)
2. For absolute best quality and look ( but yes, quite expensive ), Michelin XWX Radial 215/70/VR15 ( I have just fitted these on my copper MkIII )

White Wall tyres.

Only one choice, the Vredestein Sprint Classic 205/70/VR15 96W, THE ONLY true high performance white wall on the market, rated to 168mph and built as a white wall, not welded on later, BE WARNED!!!!! ( I have these on my Reef Blue G series )

I fitted these Yokohamas- there was a deal when I bought them - and I've been very happy with them in terms of what they do etc but having "SUV" written on the sidewall (albeit not at all ' in your face' ) isn't particularly classic...

I ummed and ahhd about the Pirelli Scorpion too but at the time, this was a lot more expensive. They're now just under £80 a corner including the VAT and fitting.
