Name that car
Re: Name that car
It's an Oldsmobile Toronado.
Front-wheel-drive, 7 litre V8 engine. Chain drive from engine to gearbox.
A beautiful young woman named Dianne Durose drove one of these in Derbyshire in the 70s. Heads turned.

Re: Name that car
Nice one, interesting rear end shape almost trans am-ish. Interesting looking car front wheel drive too. My picture from the UFO series again.

Re: Name that car
That will be a Peerless GT, Triumph TR based, later became the Warwick. I believe one of the original founders was Mr Gordon, who went on to produce the Gordon Keeble, the car I lust after more than a Jensen.

Re: Name that car
Tony's three headlight teaser - 1948 GATSO 400 Aero designed by Maus Gatsonides, The Netherlands. He had more success in inventing the GATSO speed sensing camera, hence " There's a reason to hate the guy who created this car".
In searching for the GATSO (which wasn't easy!) I came across these two, amongst many more cars with three headlights -

Gatso but I am not sure of the type.AH1951 wrote:There's a reason to hate the guy who created this car.
In the late 40's or early 50's Maus Gatsonides tried to make his fortune in the manufacturing of cars, based on Ford Zephyr/Consul if I am not mistaken.

Fibrefab Jamaican kit car, late '60s. Bill Spohn, ex 104/2300, has one with a GM V6 3.4ltr engine.

Re: Name that car
So the Fiberfab was based on a MGA, or Triumph or even Beetle. I can understand why Bill chose a modern(ish) GM V6, but not why he made an effort to inscribe the MG emblem to the top. It is not a MG engine, there never was a MG V6 (or maybe the ZT had one?) and the Fiberfab is a bitsa car so why the trouble?
Nice car though.
