Re: Name that car
No, not "Ostblock".
Stephen is on the right path.
In the 70s there was a German TV series called "PS Geschichten" about a family who bought a new car and literally EVERYTHING went wrong. The series had 16 episodes, 65 min each (!), looking at the family, the car dealer, the workshops in Germany and on holidays in Austria, the transport of a broken car - all the topics the car industry had to deal with in those times.
Here are all the episodes on youtube, but only in German.

As they couldn't use a real brand for a series like that the AMALFI was created.
The basic car was a FIAT 132 but look at all the details that morphed the car into an "Amalfi CS 1800". Badges everywhere, reshaped interior, VW headlights, Mercedes rear lights, even the dealer sticker on the rear window.
The original car was destroyed after the shooting but one guy recently rebuild teh one and only Amalfi CS 1800. Onr classic car magazine already fell for it and wrote that this is one of the rarely seen 1800s.
Fun fact: in the series the colour is called "Positano Yellow", a logical choice for an Amalfi.

Re: Name that car
It's an Opel Kadett coupe rear with a Vauxhall Chevette nose. If it wasn't called Firenza, it should have been, and would have sold by the bucket load in Britain I reckon.
This was a GM "world car" so could come from any part of the globe with any nameplate. Probably not the States as it looks too clean a design!

Related to those yes, but none of those. What is it though?

Re: Name that car
I name that car Photoshop.
If you look through the car to the offside interior, as well as the reflections in the windows that clearly aren't the background it is on, it looks to me like it is a four-door (the rear window shape and c-pillar do not match the nearside at all).
EDIT: have now noticed date of original post. Very good.

Re: Name that car
Bought one of those Opel Kadett’s (3 door hatchback) years ago. Very similar running gear to the Chevette/HC Viva - but the engine was all Opel. Used to stumble and nearly cut out at random moments when warm - usually after an hours driving. Went through it, including the carb. Turned out the valve clearances were set using imperial measurements (as per the Viva) when they should’ve been metric. Tweaked them, engine running, and it never missed a beat again.
Re: Name that car
Btw, well spotted James!
Re: Name that car
In Uruguay, Grumett made a similar car (ie. Opel Kadett coupe and Chevette front end). But those are all LHD.
And, as James noticed, it probably have no back door on the off side.

The future ain’t what it used to be.

Re: Name that car
Nothing production, with no passenger door. A special? Looks a bit like the early 50s Glaspar.
