Re: Name That Car
Hard to believe both these cars came from the same designer.

Re: Name That Car
The second car is a Chrysler engined Monica. The car was made in France and partially designed in the UK. Jensen was approached for building it.AH1951 wrote:Hard to believe both these cars came from the same designer.
After French "production" had ceased, a few were build in the UK under a different name which I have forgotten. About 30 years ago two of these cars were found in a container in the Rotterdam Harbour. At the time I was interested in buying one of these. Funds for a restoration lacked though.

Re: Name That Car
A very beautiful car indeed, the Monica 560.
But it had a long, highly troubled and expensive development phase.
I would love to own one.

Re: Name That Car
Is the smaller car a Deep Sanderson, as designed by Chris Lawrence (Lawrencetune)?

Re: Name That Car
Or was it only the second prototype which was registered as a Deep Sanderson?

Re: Name That Car
I went to see Chris Lawrence for a magazine article once. Fascinating man and he and his wife were quite the most hospitable people I have even encountered in a work situation.
Drove there and back (London-Welsh borders-London) in a day in my Interceptor (which he went out of his way to admire for obvious engine-related reasons), drove a Deep Sanderson while a colleague drove the Twini and got regaled with wonderful stories about Le Mans Morgans and the Monica, not least his driving the first car through Paris at the height of the riots and fearing for his life. Certainly one of the best-looking four-door cars ever, sort of like a giant Elan +2

Re: Name That Car
I'm also just waiting for a copy of the book.....should be a very good read.
Always had a soft spot for Morgans….ran them for many years....and now have a hankering for another !
A friend still has his '58 Lawrencetune Plus 4., though now much modified for racing.
My motoring started with a '59 Plus 4. 963 MYC, where are you now ?
