Numpty is the right word indeed.
Being quite experienced with towing, a Toyota RAV 4 is not really suitable for towing anything more than a small to medium sized caravan. From Toyota
RAV4 is an SUV with masses of get up and go. It's built to deliver whatever you ask of it, wherever you drive it. Towing capacity depends on which engine and transmission type you choose: 2.2L AWD diesel models offer a towing capacity of 750kg (unbraked) and 1000kg (braked).
(750kg is the unbraked legal limit anyway).
When I collected my Daimler (weight 1850kg + trailer 650kg = 2500kg) I used my Range Rover (weight 2100kg) with self leveling air suspension and which is a vehicle specifically designed for doing such kinds of work. Although the towing limit on the RR is specified as 3500kg (4000kg if close coupled braking is fitted), I found it very hard work towing something that heavy. Even with trailer braking, stopping all that mass required considerable care and planning.

Saw this on the way back from the JOC International the other weekend. Obviously has had a serious shunt during racing. There was more damage at the front too.

Now you see: here in Holland all cars have real crumple - zones, the classics too
. As you can also see: not all of them have brakes...........

I reckon it's about 10% of its value to put it right.

Although the video is poor it appears that the Range Rover's tyres are low profile and probably road tyres. The Landy actually winches the RR rather than pulls it out.

Why do you burn cars in a field?

Is that a British habit?

We do similar things either in our garage (ask the SP Eater) or on the Autobahn (10 burning cars on the A4 within the last 4 weeks).
