Re: Ouch !!
Funnily enough that accident could well be that car's salvation.
This is the car before the incident. It's a perfectly reasonable albeit unremarkable 'D' back limousine.
A bit boring to look at though and with limited value.
The chassis and the 7.3 litre V12 engines are a joy to behold though.
It was not uncommon that they were re-bodied when a few years old so why not something like this? Or this? Now that would make a triumph out of a disaster!

As opposed to a Stag, which was a disaster out of a Triumph
(I rather like the Stag actually...)

Re: Ouch !!
I like the alternate options, but the original is still a beautiful car to be destroyed by somebody not thinking what they are doing. To not have it insured is unforgiveable, but the insurance probably wouldn't have paid up anyway when you do the maths:
A RangeRover P38 has a maximum towing weight of 3500Kg,
Average weight of a RR Phantom III, 4 door saloon, 3500Kg
Weight of a good car trailer 500-750Kg
Load limit of good twin axle trailer 3000Kg
So in summary trailer overloaded, towing vehicle overloaded, insurance void.
I don't know of a private vehicle, that could legally pull this car on a trailer, and I doubt if I could get a trailer to handle the weight, it would need at least 3 axles, just for the tyres to take the load, probably what gave way first.
Lets hope we all learn from this, and think when towing. Just because the car will pull it, doesn't mean it is safe.
I would have liked the video to have run on. The Range Rover still has it's back wheels on the ground, with the front wheels on the tow truck. It would have been interesting to see that tow truck move off, as the RangeRover is permanent 4wd, so back wheels will drive the front

Oh dear Barrie, please not!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But so many lovely old cars have been hacked about to make somebody's idea of a sportscar, that few originals remain. Why does everyone want convertibles?
Maybe I'm just getting old!

An horrendous accident which is not all that it seems.

From the Beeb:
A McLaren supercar was reduced to a twisted, burned-out wreck after it struck a building and burst into flames.
The driver and passenger of the 570S, which sell for around £143,000, escaped with minor injuries following the crash at Heywood, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
The fire service was called to Westbury Road just before 06:30 BST on Sunday.
Crews found the occupants had made it out of the burning sports car, which was stuck beneath a collapsed wall.

Probably far too much, you don't snap an electric pole, go through a hedge, across a garden and then demolish a wall at 30mph!It is not known what speed the McLaren had been travelling at prior to the crash.

Maybe the EDR (Black Box) is burned out, but don't some cars, like the Bugatti Veyron, transmit data in real time?

Guess it was so hot it melted the Aluminum judging by what's on the ground at the rear wheels.

Re: Ouch !!
What a marvellous understatement here by the local Police force
Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road and weather conditions

Only in the UK will you find policemen with that sense of humour
"Paradise is where cops are English, cooks are French, mechanics are German, lovers are Italian and it's all organized by the Swiss"
"Hell is where policemen are German, ...." you know the rest don't you ?

Re: Ouch !!
Look what happened in the loading bay where I work today. It's a tracked access platform with 4 big legs that come down to stabilise it, or not as the case may be.
