Whether the roof and clamshell bonnet is crashed corroded or missing hardly matters? If the restored car is worth it why not pay less for that partial car with a full identity than much more for somthing requiring replacement of the same parts. I would worry more about the missing engine.

I guess, the V5 and identity is worth 95% from the selling price.

DB5 cost much more than reproducing one from scratch.

I reckon they bought it to make into a trailer to match their Aston so they can pose down at the local tip when they take the garden rubbish on a Sunday morning 8)

Denis is 100% correct. The value is in the identity and documentation.

Almost all of the significant Aston Martin restored cars that sell for high prices are completely re-bodied. If this was part, and papers, of a DB5 it would be a bargain.

Perhaps, in the future this may be of value, if only for historical rather than aesthetic reasons.

A bit like those Spitfire 'restorations' which start with a bit of bulkhead and a data plate...

Same with the such marques like Horch, Mercedes 540k and some others. You dont need even identity sometimes.

Gonna to Ukraine or Russia, buy unknown rust bucket with soviet time documents, where in the chapter "mark and model" is only "Mercedes" or "Horch" without index. Then build your Mercedes 540k or Horch 950 and register it.

This is faked Ferrary, spotted in the Düsseldorf Meilenwerke classic car dealership. Mention - emblem is covered with yellow paper and Ferrary badge sticker on the wing is removed.
