An Interceptor in its natural environment

Post by witkowski »

There are a couple of seconds of an Interceptor in its natural environment - the streets of London in the early 1970s - at 3.06 (the YouTube clock, not the on-screen clock). The street is Pall Mall, by St. Jame's Palace. Anyone remember driving along there?! There are many other interesting cars, including a Rolls-Royce at 3.30.

MK11? high front bumper, not sure if the rear lights are MK1, hard to see, but seems to be something sticking out in that area, later lights wouldn't show up being flat to the rear panel.

Thank you!

Counted more than dozen of Rover P5 in its natural habitat and some Humber Imperials, both not very common outside of the greater London, I guess.

Here you can see nice views of London streets from the soviet movie Blackbird Secret, based on the Agatha Cristhie "Pocket full of Rye" Miss Marple series.
First started 06.10 and then another 1.22.25, then 1.26.40

Here is a screenshot and a link to a video of No Blade of Grass, Cornel Wilde's 1970 film. The only video I can find is dubbed in Russian so this is probably best watched with the sound off. Now, whose Interceptor was in the film?

I have a link to the film through Nigel Davenport. I used to hitchhike between Southampton and Egham where my girlfriend was at Royal Holloway College. Davenport gave me a ride in late 1966 or 1970. It was round about then because he was not pleased that I didn't know him from A Man for All Seasons. He was driving a sports car - not, I regret to say, a Jensen. I think it was an MGA or maybe a Triumph Spitfire.

Nice Zodiac Estate in the picture. Very rare even when new.

This is the car used to escape the mayhem that breaks out in London, so it features a lot. Another featured car is an MG Magnette.
