Supercharged Interceptor on ebay

Post by Ming »

Got to ask - What do you guys think about the Supercharged Interceptor on ebay?
My opinion is that it is a really nice way to restore a car for sure but the asking price absolutely blew me away.
Is it worth that amount of cash? I've got to say that as much as I love these cars, if I had that amount of cash to spend on a car I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go towards that one.
Yes it will have cost a small fortune to achieve that level but ........................
Really interested to hear the on the opinions on here.

I have heard from a good source that one of the reasons it is for sale is because the gearbox cannot cope with the power.

Going back to your original point though I suppose somebody had to do it and as an engineering exercise they deserve a ''pat on the back'' but as you say that is a lot of money for an Interceptor with the worong engine in it.

I would have thought that the gearbox would have come matched to the engine, and surely 650hp wouldn't be that difficult to deal with?
I was just really shocked at the asking price, but thinking about it, it's only worth that much when someone coughs up for it.
But I agree it was a good project as a engineering exercise.

Cropredy pricing is always a tad on the full side.

Not exactly in line with the main tread, but...

Accordingly to fairy tale, before my Mk1 Interceptor goes to restoration 20 years ago, she has up-beefed 7.3 engine with 650 brake horse powers, and participated in some quartermile competitions in Sweden...

Just wondering, how much HP-s you can got from original engines?

Denis, 300 to 330 standard 383 engine, but easily "beefed up" to 450 plus when rebuilding

Never saw the car, but 650HP is easily within the grasp of a 727 transmission. The Dana 44 based rear...? I don't know...
Anybody got a link? I'm going looking, I assume Ebay UK or?

Shaun and taking in consideration, that turbochargers available widely for MOPAR 440 and 383, you probably will easily got another 100+, and all this with the very limited budget, dont you?

And cheapest way to beef-up engine is the six-pack installation -
