Jensen Motors Photo Set

Post by John Staddon »

Found this on Flickr.

Image

I thought I'd found a long lost C-V8 but it is a scan of a photo taken by John Baker, Service Manager at Jensen Motors, so could be very old, more photos can be found at:

Interestingly this car is marked as Export by DVLA and the last known owner was "Dante Banutto" which sounds Italian if you ask me, but that was in 1992.

If Dante BOnutto is meant, than anybody who's into heavy metal should know him. Just google him, I remember seeing him on sky channel or music box in the eighties, looked a bit like Brian May with glasses...

Budgerian, sorry but it's definitely Banutto with an "a", but who knows what was intended 20 years ago.

As previously stated - great photos!
I may be mistaken, but is the convertible in photo Jensen 07-0002 an FF with the 2 side air intakes?
It also appears in a few other pictures - was this the special prepared for Dave Horton?
I believe is still in the club so perhaps the current owner will like these as part of the history.

Great pic's, great to see pics of Horton's 'batmobile' (FF,SP,conv etc) that I've never seen before.
Also nice to see old Ghengis (YBP-int 1).
Lots of cars having very serious work & money spent.
Nice to see a busy workshop!

NEA 7L was the show demo/press car

Post by ajm541s »

NEA 7L was the show demo/press car and I am pretty sure the circuit pics are from the pre-show press test day. This was originally held at Goodward but moved to Silverstone in the 60s. Journos let loose on a circuit produced some hairy moments, notably L J K Setright stuffing a car (no, Jaguar!) into the only WW11 blockhouse on the circuit!

Registrars, eat your heart out! So many resgistrations to be seen in these pictures. Perhaps some gaps in FF or Interceptors history can be filled?

Always interesting to see old photos but has it struck anybody else what a mess the mechanics had to work in?
I wonder how many bits didn't go back in quite the right order?

And the Daimler is not an XJ6 derivative, it is the first Double Six press release car featured in Autocar and Motor. It may be that it is Paul Skilleter and Tony Curtis in the picture.

The FF / SP /Convertible is also an interesting one. Not for me though, the bonnet bulge is unsightly. I would have gone for injection instead.

383 six-pack would have worked better, but Dave being Dave bigger was always best!!
Injection would miss the point totally.
A bold statement that car was! (is)
