Started stripping the 1958 West Bromwich registered, Dart spring car, the son of the original owner is in touch with the Jensen museum, his father was good friends with the owner of Jensen and they bought two Tempos, this being the local delivery car as it has only 26,000 miles on the clock, the other Tempo was nationwide Deliverys and was far higher mileage.
My intention is to restore the chassis first then restore the various running gear components

Good on you for taking on such an ambitious project. It will be great to see one complete :D . Is the typically Jensen tubular chassis of Jensen design?

Perhaps Jensen was inspired by the Tempo chassis for their tubular chassis in the 541/C-V8?

No, the design is 100% German.

I think Jensen used UK electrical components and various other parts as production went on.

Interesting tube from the thermostat outlet towards the front of the vehicle, presumably where the radiator was then mounted and that small propshaft with a U/J from the back of what appears to be the dynamo to drive the fan. Seems they simply put the Austin engine in back to front and then "engineered" the cooling towards the back of the engine which was then towards the front of the Tempo!
The first German Tempo's had the VW air cooled engine in that location so cooling fans like that were not needed.

Only 26,000 miles on the clock. Plenty of life left in it .....

Looks like great fun. Hopefully you find it really satisfying taking that apart carefully, and building it back up to a chassis. I find that sort of work extremely rewarding, it connects you to the past in a special way. "Normal" Jensen ownership is one thing, driving about, shows etc. This takes it to another level. Shabby Chic Jensen ownership. :D
