France `06

Post by stevej »

A few details on our trip to France during July.

Total mileage 2,419 including 2 laps chasing John Donnegan also 4 up in his SP around the Le Mans circuit!

As near as possible on the fuel used ,162 gallons

Just under 15 miles per gallon (sorry Leeds bloke !)

This included our Interceptor being loaded to bursting point with luggage , camping gear, 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

Our journey from Arles on the south coast to Granville on the north west coast was 723 miles covered in 11 hours, including fuel! and food stops.

In the 35 degree plus heat this was quite a run for the Interceptor.
Cruising at 85-90 mph seemed to keep the temp gauge at a reasonable level.

A total of 1.5 litres of oil was used, and a 1/2 litre of power steering oil.
The only water added was in the screen washer bottle.

Not a bad result for our 32 year old family runaround!!

It was those teenagers that kept your fuel down Steve with that old old saying from the back 'Are we there yet!'

Good to know that you had a good run without any problems and to think some newer cars can't even do that.

Hope to see you all soon.
Only working half a day now.
