Knebworth 1983

Post by MikeWilliams »

Just came across these that I took at Knebworth Park in 1983. General car meeting I think, not a JOC meet. Worrying to think it was 38 years ago!

I don't know who owned the white CV8 or the MK1 Interceptor at that time. The 4-litre Interceptor was owned by Marcus Garbe and the superb Interceptor II was of course Ron Langford.

Some more from the same day. Peter Spardella's tangerine SP, Rob Ransley's silver CV8, Graham C-T's convertible and the other I don't know. Suspect that's my red Mk1 Interceptor in the background.

The Interceptor coupe' CT50 is of course Graham Calvert-Thompson, this is the Interceptor he bought after he sold our Convertible which has also displayed this plate. It now belongs to Harry Hilton.

In 1983 the white C-V8 was either Mrs Gudrun Garbe or Marcus Garbe, they follow each other in the register but there is no date for when Marcus took over the car, however if Marcus drove the red early Interceptor to the show then it is likely the C-V8 was driven by Mrs Garbe.

Hi John,
The White CV8 was mine, having brought it off Gudrun (my step mother) in 1979/80. I know she wouldn't have driven it to Knebworth, but I think a friend drove it.

Awesome photos.

It reminds me of the times that I lived in Jolly Olde England, unfortunately, I never did live there.

But it reminds me of those times, and what they would’ve looked like, had I lived there!

Grant & I would’ve been next-door neighbors!

I am giggling at your logic but also horrified at the thought of living next door to Grant!
(Only joking Grant!!)
