Sorry for late posting here, quicker to post to Instagram/Facebook during the day.

Few snaps from Friday Resto show… Really great to so many members and to welcome a couple of new ones.

More images to follow tomorrow.

To Shaun and the Jensen Committee

I am very disappointed to be having to post this message but the facts are facts

Shaun requested cars for this show in December 2021 and then complained at the lack of response within 24 hours

I responded on the next day - the 9th December 2021 expressing an interest in showing my car
Shaun responded immediately and said great and would be in touch

Guess what - no further contact and alternative cars are chosen for the show
This is the third time that i have expressed an interest to the Chairman or Committee that i would be happy to show my car
The first two times - i did not even receive the courtesy of a response - and then found out that one car had been seconded to a show at the last minute - another Interceptor

Unfortunately it would appear that if you are not on the Committee or within the "inner circle" there is little chance of displaying your car on the JOC stand

I believe that my car would have been a good car to display at this show - not least that i have owned the car for over 43 years and it was the subject of a full restoration - not to concours standard but very good - after being off the road for more than 30 years

My car may not be the best car out there but it was good enough for Lancaster Insurance to pick it as 1 0f 20 cars in the Pride of Ownership stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in November 2016 and received an enormous amount of interest

Clearly there is little point in putting my car forward again to the JOC - so i will continue to display the car at Shows around the country and promote the car - but possibly not the Club in the future

Very disappointed

Jim, I apologise for the poor communication. I am really sorry that you feel the way you have expressed on the forum. It is my interceptor on the stand as a substitute instead of a CV8 that became unavailable. The substitution was easier in terms of logistics, timing and co-ordination. Although, I must say that I was reluctant to take my car out of storage and drive it to the NEC without much of a looking over. Please can we have a conversation next week. Kind regards, Karan

That sounds like a get out of jail free card!
I sympathise with Jim ,but fully concur with the inner circle point he made,I used to be a member of the JOC but once the initial early questions were answered ie ,who I was etc I found it difficult to access other members ,reasons have been expressed in my earlier posts ,such a shame as you promote the club as the friendly club as this only seems to be applied to the chosen few, well done for speaking up Jim !!!

Strangely enough, Jim, your car would probably not have been ideal for this show as it sounds too good! Although there were prizes for great restorations, the Club was looking for three cars with flaws to fit in with the "hands on" theme of the restoration show.
Karan's Interceptor was really far too shiny and complete, but faced with a last minute need to provide a replacement he probably had little choice. For example, the hotel was fully booked so an owner would have had to find alternative accommodation. (I believe the club exhibitors receive no recompense for their petrol and other outlays.)
I look forward to seeing RJF 17 at the International.

I have received three responses to my posting and therefore believe that it only appropriate that i respond

Karan
Thank you for taking the time to respond at what must be a very busy time for you and the Club at the Show
The substitution of your Interceptor at the Show is not an issue to me - nor was it your car that i was referring to as being seconded late to a recent show
In reviewing the posts on this subject - not many - it would appear that my offer was the only certain one - and no attempt has been made to contact me - even late when the CV8 pulled out
Quite clearly this suggests to me that my car was never being considered
Thank you for the offer of a telephone call - but i will not bother now

George
Thank you for your comments and i am sorry if you are not still a member of the club
It is the cars that are and remain the real stars

Stephen
Clearly you have not read Shaun's original post - which suggested a concours car alongside cars undergoing restoration
Given the apparent lack of offers of cars and the positive nature of the initial acknowledgement, all i expected was a further response
I am not under any illusions that my cars is not quite Concours - although i have won a small cup that suggests it is - but it did seem to fit the proposed Stand theme
A late request to attend would have not been an issue as i have a family member close by and a spare car at my disposal
I certainly expected no recompense
Also the fact that i make my car accessible to the Public has seen it draw a great deal of interest - not a bad pr for the club
i am not sure that i will bother to attend the International Weekend

Kind regards

I would like to thank everyone for their support in making it a really good outing for our club. There was a lot of interest from visitors on our marque and especially so on Friday. We received just recognition for our apprenticeship initiative, rekindled with existing members and had new members joining the JOC. It was a much different event to the show in November at the NEC and I am pleased that a few visitors enquired about Jensen ownership. We have made the stage twice running now at the NEC so fingers crossed that it will be a hat trick this coming November. We also pointed out to the press that we have two specially anniversaries this year.

Kind regards,

Karan

Setting up on Thursday morning

Image
Dave and Jan Devine's Healey displayed with panels borrowed from Martin Robey I think only one person noticed that the wing was for a mark 1 whereas Dave's is a mark 2.
Several people were surprised that you could still get panels for the car.

Image
Chris Reed's new GT, with Rob Heydon (Healey Registrar) advising. Chris is hoping to use the car which has been off the road since 1980 for the Spring Weekend, he may be a little ambitious :-)

Image
The gearbox that Dave Devine was demonstrating how to strip down and put back together (not intending to put it back in a car until properly rebuilt). People thought this was going back in Dave's Healey, it was actually borrowed from Rob and is in need of a rebuild anyway.

Image
A cool mark 3 Cortina and owner.

Image
My son Luke loved his drive out in a GBS Zero Lotus 7 replica with Sporting Bears. I was impressed how many children were going out, given the comments about encouraging younger people to get involved it was a good sign.
Not so good that Luke now wants one for his first car. Maybe a project for us...

I was surprised Luke chose this, I thought he was going to chose the Focus RS with 500 odd horse power.

I'm hoping that the Sporting Bears lady that took me out in her Iso Grifo a few years ago will be there in November

Thanks to Karan and Raj for taking over the organisation when Shaun realised he was double booked, and huge thanks for stepping in when it became clear my C-V8 wasn't going to be available late on (problems with the previous car in the queue, plus I should have chased progress more often).

Given that it is the 60th anniversary of the C-V8 (and 50th of the Healey) we did think about alternative C-V8s but as the owner would have to arrange to take 2 days off work and pay for accommodation / fuel etc it was easier to use Karan's Interceptor (together with American mud), which got a lot of attention .

Shame as I was surprised how much attention my rough looking car got compared to much nicer C-V8s at earlier shows.

It would also have been nice to show the repairs so that the rear suspension was attached again... as I have said it is worth getting your car MOTd.
