Gathering of Healey cars at Gaydon Motor Museum - July 4th

Post by Bob Heydon »

Hello,

For those who have not seen my listing in the Healey technical page I've been contacted by David Matthews who is organising a major event to be held on July 4th 2021 at the Gaydon Motor Museum. He is inviting all the car clubs with cars with a Healey connection to the gathering. The clubs invited are as follows:-

AH Club UK
Healey Drivers Club UK
Association of Healey Owners UK
HMC Sports Cars UK
Midget and Sprite Club UK
Jensen Owners' Club

I think the last time the majority of these car clubs gathered together was back in 1985 at the International Healey Weekend at Brands Hatch where they had one of every Healey type built from X1 THE BUG up to the Jensen-Healey and Jensen GT.

The car group has now expanded with the addition of The Healey Drivers Club, The Midget & Sprite Club and the HMC Sports Car Register.

This is an opportunity to meet up once again with every Healey model made and the club members to appreciate the diversity of the cars Donald Mitchell Healey CBE
created.

FOR TICKETS READ ON:

Tickets need to be purchased in advance and are now available direct from the British Motor Museum website. The link for the page is

I just booked my tickets for this. Really looking forward to it, the first time my J-H has ventured to a show since its rebuild.

Just returned from the Healey Day at Gaydon down a very wet M40. It was a nice to meet old friends and put some faces to some new ones. I think we had a good turn out of cars despite the weather.

Sorry to have missed it today but with no wipers, couldn't chance the police accepting Rain x as the solution.

Bt looked like there were some great cars there and so ours wouldn't have been missed :)

Thank you for everyone who braved the weather and turned out at Gaydon.

As previously mentioned I was unable to make it as I had a prior engagement. It looks like it was a good turnout; did anyone count how many Jensen-Healeys and GTs made it to the event?

How nice to see so many Jensen-Healeys and GT's together at Gaydon. It was good to meet up with old friends on Sunday and meet some new J-H owners. I've just realised that the very smart M reg red Healey was yours Mark - it looks great. It was such a shame the weather changed for the weekend and I hope everyone made it home safely. I came home yesterday, calling at Appleyard's to get a new heater fan switch so peace is restored. Thanks for your help David.

I spoke to David Matthews who was very impressed with the Jensen-Healey turn out but hadn't realised we were going to be there!

Let's try and get at least 13 Healeys and GT's to the International in September.

Thanks Helen, it was WEA 30M’s first long trip out in over 20 years! All went well apart from the fuel gauge- it moved when I filled it with a couple of petrol cans but when I filled at the petrol station it didn’t move up?? I’m guessing the sender until so have to run around more to get petrol level below the sender to get it out!

Probably a leaking float. Easily changed but remove the sharp edges on the wire that holds the float first. Plenty of cars, not only UK cars, use the same float. If all fails a champagne cork will do fine but it is a bit costly solution.
