Hampton Court Concours Saturday 5th September

Post by david wright »

The Jensen Owners club has again been invited to attend this grand event on Saturday 5th September, and having advertised it in the club magazine and on the Forum, to date I’ve had just 2 positive responses from Gary and Eddie.

This is of course not surprising considering the dreaded virus.

However, 5th September is some time away, and for the moment I’d like to be optimistic. We do need to have something to look forward to in these uncertain times, and as the organisers have stated firmly to me that at present they are fully committed to the event, subject to monitoring the situation and being compliant with any government advice.

So I plan to be positive too, and if it does proceed, they will need a full list of our cars in July. I am therefore keen to assemble a full display, with as many a varied spread of most of the Jensen models. In early July, if it is still to go ahead, I will seek a decision from the Committee of the JOC as to whether they are prepared to commit funds to sponsor drivers and cars as has been the case before.

If you're thinking about attending Hampton Court would let me know if you are prepared to put yourselves forward on that basis, knowing that there is always a chance that the event may not go ahead or, as a club, we may decide ourselves not to take part if we consider the risks too high.

I look forward to hearing from owners of 541s, early cars and S-V8s in particular, on that basis, including your car details, and number of passengers. In the absence of any decision from Hampton Court Concurs organisers by early July, I will confirm to you the final list, and then seek your views, and a decision from the club, before then submitting the list, bearing in mind that this then generates an invoice to the club for the display in total. No payment now, we have nothing to lose by being on the list!

Hi David
Put me down, it will be nice to use the Jensen if it goes ahead.

It would be my MK111 Interceptor with driver and 1 passenger.

Hi David

Just replied to your email with my details.

To those who haven’t been to this event before, it really is a first class day. David always organises good weather as well.

We prefer to be optimistic than pessimistic. Anyway, there's nothing committed until July when we'd have to pay so for now, as David says, we have nothing to lose at the moment.

I would come with FF 119-139, the only MANGO MK1 that left the factory. Maybe my son will accompany me with our black 541R.

Hi Joerg,
That sounds great, and if your 541 can also come this would be excellent.
Can you provide me with year and reg. number for both cars please, anmd the number of passengers that you will have?

Also, just so you know, we are required to assemble at a back entrance to the estate - the Kingston end, at 8.00am!

Email the details and I can tell you more of the arrangements - southdowns@joc.org
Thanks
