We will decide Yay\Nay end of June. At that time we can still cancel the hotel without any costs. However we will try to prolong that period if the hotel wants to cooperate.

Now the government have told us we must quarantine for two weeks when returning from abroad this could make this event difficult. They have said this will be reviewed every 3 weeks so hopefully by the end of June they will give us an idea if this still be in place by the time event takes place.

We are aware of this. Today we will have a discussion with the proprietor of the hotel to shorten the period in which we can cancel all rooms or at least part of them. We hope that the final decision date will be the end of July. At that time it should be clear what the limitations (if any) for international travel will be. At the moment it is strongly advised that you should travel only when strictly necessary, whether abroad or inland. Code "ORANGE"!

If all goes according plan, we may have to improvise a bit in the restaurant when we have our breakfasts and diners, perhaps in 2 separate rooms or in two shifts or whatever they come up with.
From 1/6 we can visit restaurants again in the Netherlands. Members from one household or people who are normally in close contact with each other do not have to keep the 1,5m distance, others will have to. Nearly all infections took place indoors, so the 1,5m may possibly be reduced to 1m on terraces.
The Covid-19 situation is improving rapidly at the moment so our hopes are high.

Keep saf/ne.

It appears very much so that the HJGH Autumn weekend in Hotel Berg & Dal in Epen from 24-27 September 2020 will be going ahead. For many of us it will be the first event we can visit this year. We have made a firm arrangement with the hotel that we can cancel the rooms without a penalty charge until the 31st of July. After that charges will apply. The decision will be made towards the end of July. We are very confident in the final outcome.

From appr. the 15th of June travel will be possible between several countries within Europe, e.g. Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and the Netherlands. France does not belong in that category yet. At this moment travel from the UK is not advised by the British authorities and when returning to the UK there is a quarantine period of 14 days required. This may hopefully be lifted before the 31st of July.

There may still be some restrictions: no more than 100 people at meetings, face masks in public transport, reservations in restaurants, museums, cinemas etc. Social distance in the Netherlands is 1,5m, however this is not applicable between members of a household or people who are normally together. This applies to terraces, pubs, bars, restaurants, shops, meetings, museums, theatres etc. Some of these measures may have been lifted by mid-September.
Make sure you have some face masks with you. They have to be worn in certain situations and they are advised when social distancing is not possible for one reason or another.

This may mean that there will be some adjustments necessary with the meals, e.g. in two rooms or having two shifts. There is also a possibility that the number of guests in the bar at one time may be limited.
We may limit our scenic routes to Dutch territory only, depending on the situation. How these will be presented depends on how much time we have to set them out. Hopefully we can present a version that can be downloaded to your Satnav. However it may be old fashioned map reading!!

If by the end of July you feel you want to cancel the weekend, please do so and you will be refunded in full but some bank charges may apply. Do not wait until the 31st as we will need some time to contact the hotel. If you decide at a later date to book again, rooms are subject to availability.
For those who still want to book, there are a few double rooms available and one apartment for 4 and one apartment for 2 at the moment. There will be a surcharge for the apartments. Please inquire.

The weekend will be a bit different than usual this time because of the situation around Covid-19 but I am sure that with a little bit of improvisation, prudence and give and take we can make it a success and enjoy ourselves the way we used to!!

Thank you for the update, and congratulations to you and your team in revising your plans in the hope that the weekend , should it still be able to go ahead, will be another success. Lynne and I have decided that in any event we wish to cancel and will not be attending.

I am happy to announce that our Autumn weekend will take place as planned: 24-27 September 2020.
As from tomorrow there will be no UK travel restrictions due to Covid-19 like two weeks quarantine when returning to the UK from many countries including France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and others. There will be some rules to adhere to but we are used to those by now: social distancing, hygiene, face masks in certain situations etc.
This means that it is no problem any more travelling to many countries in Europe.
We are very relieved and happy as we now hope to meet our friends from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium again during our Autumn weekend in Epen.
If you still decide to cancel the weekend please do so in time.
Until the 24th of September in Epen!
