Dutch Autumn Weekend

Post advance news of events you will be attending

by kees » Wed Sep 18, 2019 8:04 am

We are all set.
The hotels are awaiting us.
Routes are checked as best as we could.
All info send to all participants.
Tires checked, car serviced, tank filled up.
Boot packed with tools, engine fluids, petrol and spare parts plus parts to deliver. Very little luggage room left for the Missus.

It looks like we will have gorgeous weather. Sunshine all day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and a little cloudy on Sunday with rain later in the day in Kell but by then we already will have left the area.

Roadbooks printed out?? I do have a few spare ones just in case you forgot. Satnavs updated?? Route files uploaded to your satnavs??
Have a good journey to Epen tonight and/or tomorrow.

See you all tomorrow.

Kees,
Hope everything goes very well. Will you pass on my regards as the Chairman of the JOC to Jensen Genootschap Holland?
Sadly cant be there this year.
However, the car still lives and its recent fuel leak is cured.
Next year perhaps.
Thank you.

Thanks Shaun,

I certainly will pass on my regards to all present
I will try to find an extra nice place to go to next year, specially for you.
Also in two years time we will have our International weekend so plenty of time to inspect the radiator hoses.

All the best,

Great Day

Blue skies and an interesting itinerary with some great roads followed by an excellent dinner. Some very excited singing and dancing in the bar, I think some of our party may be late for breakfast!

The dull rolling growl of American built V8s punctuated by the Lotus derived crisp bark of a straight 4, the Jensen boys (and girls) are in town!

I would post pictures as the sun rises in a blue sky but the website is rejecting anything but text!

Thank you Colin for the nice pictures.

I hope all participants arrived home or at their next destination safe, sound and satisfied.

We have had a very nice weekend with an abundance of sunshine, exemplary participants, challenging, to say the least, drives, nice hotels and no really serious mishaps.
Not without problems though: one couple got stuck between Epen and Kell with a failing distributor but after the ANWB (Dutch AA) had tried to fix this in vain he was provided with a hire car to continue the trip while his Jensen-Healey will be brought home by a recovery vehicle, one couple had a light encounter with another vehicle resulting in a dent in the rear wing of their Interceptor conv. and their pride and one got stuck on the way home about 5km from the hotel with a suspected failing rear wheel bearing which was actually detected when arriving at the hotel for our lunch but proved to be more serious than expected on the way home. We had stayed driving behind them just in case. It took a fairly long time before the diagnosis was confirmed by the ANWB technician/patrol man who had to order a recovery vehicle and a hire car to continue the trip home where they (and we) arrived at around 22:00.
I am sure that these problems will be sorted in no time.
There were a few niggles with the dinner in the hotel in Germany as a few of the ingredients were in a somewhat short supply.

I would dearly like to receive comments on our trips we have organised in the past few years and please do not be shy or polite about it. Do not hold back, give it to us neat, straight, direct, unfiltered, uncensored!!. Let's say the Dutch way.
Think: the extra day this time, quality of hotels, organised lunches every day or not, quality of food, drinks included or not, the set out touristic routes: length, complexity and the way they are presented, organising visits to places of interest or total freedom, costs of the event, whatever you can think of.
We have tried to get responses in the past but so far drew a blank sadly.
We are still learning but we do realise that we cannot make it perfect for everybody. It is just what kind of arrangements and compromises we have to make to make most happy. With your comments we may find a way how to improve

Thank you all for your presence, the excellent company and camaraderie during the weekend.

Until we meet again.
Cheers,
Kees Oudesluijs

Just wondering if they have something against mustard Jensen-Healeys. My photo was taken at 14.01.30 at the same speed.

Apart from this souvenir it was a great weekend with lots of Jensen friends old and new and, as previously stated, some excellent driving and great scenery. I finally reached home this afternoon after a grand total of 1817 miles. The car needs some tlc following the Devon rain but altogether a great trip. Thanks to Kees and Hans for their hard work organising yet another great HJG weekend.

Well, €15 for a professional photograph is not too bad is it.
That is a lot of miles you put on the car. You clearly enjoyed the trip through France and back to the UK.
Do not forget to lift the carpets or mats to dry out the floor.
